"Imagine waiting until 430 to get your food and the food isn’t what you wanted. We ordered Shrimp and broccoli Chicken and broccoli We specifically asked about brown sauce versus white sauce. The man at the counter stated that they use brown sauce. We wait just under 10 minutes to get our food. The restaurant appeared to be clean, but you are not allowed to eat here. There was not anyone else waiting for food when we arrived. Got home, opened the bag! It’s literally chicken and broccoli NO sauce! I’m not gonna say it was dry, but it was more dry than moist! The sauce woulda help. We called the restaurant and the person who answered the phone said they don’t really use a lot of sauce. There’s a difference between a lot of sauce and none, there was no sauce, except what it may have been cooked in. The man also said, next time tell him we want sauce. I order this every time i order Chinese, and I never had this not come with sauce. And i personally think if you ask about sauce, them not putting any in the dish should have been mentioned!"

"Have been going to the House of Chao for over 20 years so I feel very qualified to give the real scoop on this establishment. Food The food is excellent. It may actually be the best Chinese food in Connecticut. There are a few others in the State at this level but it is definitely one of the best. My faves are a) General Tso Chicken b) Kan Shao fish c) Chicken with String beans d) Shrimp fried rice e) Eggroll (amazing!) f) Wonton soup. There are a lot of good items on the menu but these are the item we get consistently. Take-out They used to offer dine-in... but in recent years it has evolved to take out only. This is a very busy restaurant so be sure to give yourself enough time. Hours In the last few years, the hours have become severely limited. They are no longer open for lunch, and they are open at 4:30 pm most days and there is an almost immediate barrage of orders flying in from all angles. So please give yourself 45-60 minutes at least from when you call in - for planning purposes. Service They are actually very nice, polite and respectful. I've been going there for decades and used to dine in often. They've always been busy but in recent years they seem to be even more busy. Since they switched over to take out only it is advisable to watch out for busy times and give yourself enough margin. Conclusion This is one of the absolute best Chinese restaurants in Connecticut. A must try!"
