"Great staff, clean place and awesome food. We went mid week so it wasn't too busy but the service was great, the wings were crispy and great sauce selection. The food was fresh and not greasy! And my vegetarian daughter had options."
"I've been going to the Plantsville Sliders pretty frequently for years. I'm a local and want them to do well. Love the setup with all the tvs. Great place to catch a game or take the kids. The boneless wings, at their best, are great, top notch. Unfortunately, they are extremely inconsistent, and of late, have been more consistently bad than good. A specific example: Saturday, January 20th I ordered boneless wings, very well done, medium buffalo as a takeout order for lunch - my standard order. These wings were amazing. Crispy with a great tasting sauce. If I could get the wings of this quality consistently I would probably order them 2-3 times a week and give Sliders a 5 star rating. In the picture I included, this is the wing on the right side of the plate. (It looks dry but actually had a good amount of sauce in the pan I didn't bother to mix it with for the photo). The sauce in the other picture I included is also on the right and was a great taste and texture. Because the wings were so great, I placed the exact same order on Sunday, January 21st. I was dreaming about these wings. Same time of day, same order, and take out. Unfortunately, these wings were very disappointing. Not crispy (despite choosing very well done) and the sauce was thin/broken with a weird aftertaste. This is frustratingly common (i.e. not a one off). I don't know if it truly comes through in the photos, but the wing on the left side of the photo was not crispy and the sauce in the left side of the other photo was very thin/broken and had a weird aftertaste that has become frustratingly common. Over the past few months, the wings have been more consistently disappointing than great. Sliders has always been a bit inconsistent, but I would say it used to be for every 2 good meals, you get 1 bad. I would say it's now the opposite, for every 1 good meal you get 2 bad. I've tried to isolate for variables (i.e. maybe when it's busy they rush the wings so they don't get as crispy, maybe they sit out too long, etc), but it seems completely random. A few years ago they added the option to pick crispiness level (regular, well done, very well done, extra well done). This seemed to help with consistency for a time, but it's now gotten back to the point where they are wildly inconsistent. My hypothesis on the crispiness level is just the temperature of the oil or length of cooking time varies by cook. My hypothesis on the thin/broken sauce with a weird aftertaste is the amount of grease/oil that gets in the sauce when the wings are mixed in. I had started going to a different wing place, but it's frustrating because I know how great the wings can be at their peak. My feedback to management is just please try to isolate for consistency. I've been going to Sliders for years, want you guys to be great, but of late the consistency is not there and hasn't been for a while."
"Service was awful when I went a decade ago. I've been here twice in the last week and they upped their game. It can get crowded on game days so arrive early. I like the traditional wings. But I actually like the vegetarian wings over boneless. Put the vegetarian wings in some mac and cheese, so good! And get the mac daddy fries as an app. Decently sized wings but pretty $$"
"The consistency with the food lacks. I typically have my food delivered/picked-up. Sometimes the wings are great, other times not so much. Many times of late, my lemon pepper wings have a funky taste/smell of oil...the fry-o-lator oil might be in need of a change...Their Buffalo Dip is expensive for the amount u get...sometimes the cup is filled only halfway. Lately, it's either way thick and not totally combined or it's like soup w/ a coating of orangy oil on top...gross. Maybe the cooks are new...Bottom-line, Sliders was always renowned for its wings, etc...I hope they can fix things..."
"We used to visit the Sliders in Plantsville allll the time in high school, but once we graduated and went to college we didn’t get to come as often. We took a walk down memory lane and came back, and they are killing it! There’s several new wing flavors and menu items that caught our eye, and everything we had was fantastic! The nachos were especially great - we always appreciate when there’s plenty of toppings and layers of it with no bare chips. Sandwiches, wings, and drinks were all great! They were doing trivia when we were there too. Everything was clean and it was a nice vibe. This visit really reminded us why we always loved Sliders, and we’ll definitely be adding it back into our rotation of local places!"
