Reviews of Hoodoo Brown BBQ
"Hoodoo Brown BBQ is the place to go if you want “the” best southern style BBQ in CT. Went on a Sunday evening, no wait time to sit down. The dining room is cozy and inviting with a country vibe. Isabella waited on us and she was phenomenal; she checked in on us at the right time every time. We ordered a brisket sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich with Mac & Cheese. The brisket was perfect, it was juicy and soft, it pulled apart and had the perfect amount of pepper on the skin. The pulled pork melted in your mouth, the coleslaw added just the right touch and the BBQ sauce was so good, we wish they would sell them in a bottle. Can’t wait to go back!"
"Was very excited about this experience, but it didn’t exactly meet our expectations. Loved being able to see the outside smokers and smell the meat cooking, was very much looking forward to trying pork belly but found it almost inedible as it’s was just a fried piece of fat, not exactly what imagined for a juicy/cracking kinda meat. Brisket was somewhat dry. Chicken wings tasted more fried than smoked, out of all proteins the best was beef rib. Coleslaw was good, corn bread was okay, sweet potatoes fries were tossed in probably sugar which we found unnecessary. The best dish out of all that we tried was nachos with brisket bits. The bbq sauce was good. Overall this wasn’t a great experience as we came here after hearing high recommendations and found food to be disappointing for what it was."
"My first time there. The food and service were superb. Had the pork ribs and brisket. So tender and tasty. I loved the cole slaw. No mayonaise just vinegar. Very refreshing. And the collard greens were cooked perfectly. Will definitely be going back again and again."
"We love this place so much and have been dozens of times. Nothing in Fairfield County compares. Things to note: parking is limited and fills up fast. You could be waiting over an hour to be seated depending on what time you arrive. We always come right when they open at 11:30 on the weekend, or an hour or so later when the first round of guests has finished up. There’s also bar seating which you can get lucky with. All food is excellent and service is very friendly and attentive. Favorites are naked wings, pork belly, mac and cheese, and poutine (sooo much gravy!). You can’t go wrong."
"Everything was so delicious... We started with a small Brisket Nacho. We ordered the small gang combo so we would have some to take home. It included fall off the bone spareribs, UHmazing brisket smoked to perfection! Seriously, the best brisket, I'm pretty sure I ever ate. They featured 2 housemade sauages. Jalapeño cheddar and Egg McMuffin, which tasted like a breakfast sandwich with the sausage, egg, and the muffin, all rolled into one. Collards could use some acid, a little meat, or heat. Scalloped potatoes were creamy, seasoned with rosemary. Wish I took an extra pound of brisket home! Cornbread was not ready yet, but we got a piece to take home. It was so good and still warm when we got there. We would drive an hour and 7 minutes ANYDAY for HOO DOO!"
