Reviews of The Sheffield SoNo
"High end Norwalk residents...as a response to the Sheffield SoNo...meaning Rental and knowing Location is the Fact... Overhaul Cleanliness is a 5 start, Parking lot Crowded but neat... Residents friendly. Understanding that is City environment. Thank you Team Sheffield SoNo for your prompt response."
"There is constant turnover in the staff and the budget has clearly been hurt as the ground floor office space was unrented for about two years. When we moved in 2 1/2 years ago it was a pristine community with very responsive staff. Now staff is consistently in learning mode (or are temps) and the lack of office rent has affected the experience. The grounds and building are not as well kept, the pool closed earlier than normal, coffee machine is hit or miss, fewer monthly activities, changes like new door security went in with no explanation and little warning. These are problems of the privileged as It's still a nice property, but a bit expensive for being a luxury building on decline. It's well insulated and quiet, EXCEPT for between floors. Upstairs neighbors can be heard a lot. Gym and common room are nice, but when they were unusable for a few months due to a flood, there was no reduction in rent. Also the new mall is a big deal. You'll either love being walking distance to it, or hate the additional stop lights, traffic increase and the eyesore (if you're on that side of the building)."
"We have had ongoing issues with our HVAC in one bedroom not maintaining the temperature. The entire system also broke the first week we moved in during a heat wave in July and they did not have a backup plan for the “custom” systems and we had to wait a week with temperatures in the high 90’s and humid for what we feel is an inefficient system for our unit. I would not recommend living here. There is high staff turnover with the office and maintenance. The trash rooms pile up with trash on the weekends on our floor. The outdoor parking is not safe with people wandering through at night and I asked to have cameras reviewed of an actual incident and was told that they had to ask management to do that. The elevator also seems to be often malfunctioning. Though it has a nice water view, we can’t open our shades to see it or our apartment temperature will soar (in October we are still using our a/c?). Something is not working right here."
"I waited to leave a review until I had lived here for a while, but overall, the Sheffield has been a really fantastic place to live so far. Feedback: - Firstly, the staff, especially the office manager, are great. They all work hard to make this a nice place to live. When I moved in, I had a steady stream of packages and furniture being delivered while working long hours, and they took the time to bring them up to my door. - The lounge is well designed and has great decor. Minor, but it's nice to walk through the area or occasionally use it. They just replaced the Keurig that was there with a fully automatic espresso machine too. - The unit, overall, is good. My primary concern when selecting an apartment was noise. True to what the building manager told me when I was looking at apartments, there is zero noise from units to my left or right. I *do* hear footsteps from the unit above me, because the tenant seems to always or often wear shoes in her house and not have area rugs down -- but the office manager was transparent about possibly hearing footsteps from above, which I appreciated. This likely would not be a problem if the upstairs tenant had rugs down (or didn't wear shoes), and I might ask the office manager to follow up on this. - My experience with maintenance requests has been mostly positive but mixed. On one hand, the maintenance staff are very friendly and willing to help. On the other, I had a couple negative experiences: 1) lack of communication when trying to get a few requests taken care of when I first moved in (I had to follow up several times to get my dishwasher fixed/replaced, and involve the office manager, before someone called me back and gave me an update) and 2) mandatory building-wide HVAC maintenance with very short notice -- they didn't clean up after themselves, left a piece of some HVAC system on my kitchen counter, didn't wear shoe covers, etc. Overall though, my few maintenance requests have been taken care fairly quickly and have been positive experiences. - Misc amenities. I pay for parking in the garage, but there seems to always be plenty of parking outside. Package delivery / retrieval overall works great and is secure. Dry cleaning closets on each floor is really nice. The gym is great and does not get that much traffic. W/D and dishwasher work fine. - The common areas of the property (lounge, lobby, hallways) are always well-maintained, clean, and presentable."
"I've been here since November of 2016, and I have to say it's been a very nice experience. The building is very nice, my apartment is very nice and spacious, the amenities are great (especially the pool!). Maintenance staff is great, too, and has always been very prompt in taking care of anything that needs attention. The leasing office staff are really wonderful people, and very kind. They often put on resident events, which are great. I'm glad I decided to live here!"
