Reviews of Stonegate Apartments
"Try your luck somewhere else!!! This building is not safe! No cameras! Packages get stolen everyday! You will find dog poop and pee in the building and on the children's play ground. You will also find weed containers in the jungle gym!! Your car will be broken into. Elevator brakes down constantly! Used condoms are in the stair case along with Garbage bags left throughout the building. If you are using public laundry room your clothes will be stolen if left alone. Game room is unusable the tables are broken or missing parts, gym is outdated, The pool locker rooms have falling tiles and mold. Sauna doesn't work, trash is left around the pool. Apartments are poorly done. They will work on your apartment with no notice. Also The rent increases every year!"
"I moved to Stonegate Apartments, specifically the 1150 building, in December 2022. I can confidently say it’s been the most mediocre experience of my life. On Tuesday, August 8th, 3 cars in the 1160 parking lot were vandalized. The cars had their windows and windshields busted in, all tires stolen off the cars and the cars were put on crates - RIGHT OUTSIDE THE BUILDING!! There have been several tenants who have been writing petitions and getting signatures to get some form of surveillance or security system around the buildings, to no end. The vandalism was discussed with management and we were told, “there’s nothing we can do.” Seems like a slap in the face after paying so much rent for a dumping ground. Management is slow and unresponsive. The elevator seems to be about 70+ years old, is NEVER cleaned, smells awful, and stops working on average, twice a month (for DAYS). The apartment itself is updated, nicely painted. However, you can clearly see the fundamental issues such as unfinished work in the bathroom. My bathtub lever was rusted off (which they painted over to try and cover it) and wasn’t draining any water for months. We had spoken to management 3 times before someone came to fix it. In the 1150 basement, it looks like a dungeon. The washing machines are always breaking down, the game room isn’t functional because almost all of the tables/games are broken, the gym is fine. I have not yet seen the “storage units” that they want to charge extra for. Your neighbors will steal from you. The “mail room” is full of Amazon packages and I’ve had 2-3 packages stolen. There’s a camera in the mail room. Rob, the maintenance man, told me that the camera works, but it doesn’t record. So what’s the point? I could go on and on. Save your money. Live somewhere else."
"I have lived in the 1150 complex now for a few months, and it has been a solidly mediocre living experience. The apartment itself is fairly nice. It is spacious, and recently redone so it looks quite pretty. The construction however is poor. Everything works, but there are gaps beneath counters and sinks and cabinets that look unfinished, the caulk in the shower is messy and patchy in places, and there are paint drips EVERYWHERE. The drawers in the kitchen are poorly placed and so some of them aren't really functional as you cannot open the doors all the way or you have to climb on the counters to reach all the way in. Some of the panelling on the cabinets clearly needed to be redone (has cracks, warps, or water stains) that were instead just painted over. Two of the lights don't work and were that way when we moved in. Overall a decent living space, but if you are expecting new and quality construction, you may be disappointed. There are also a number of issues with administration. When we first toured the building, the apartment we were looking at wasn't yet finished. They promised us it would be finished by a specific date which they set for move in. By that date, it was not finished, and was not a livable space, which they failed to inform us of in advance. After almost two more weeks, they finally finished it enough to live in, but did a poor job cleaning the space. Upon move in, the dishwasher didn't work, two sets of lights didn't work, and there were still no laundry machines or driers. It took them nearly a month to repair the dishwasher, and 5 months later, we still do not have a laundry machine or drier, and no further communication on the status of the project. The lights also still don't work. Prior to moving in the agent we spoke to said there would be plenty of parking and gave us directions on how to apply for more parking spots. On moving in, we followed the application steps and were told that each apartment only got one parking spot. This would have been a deal breaker for us had we known this in advance. I don't know whether the misinformation was due to incompetence or malicious intent, but it is a big issue for my family. So if you need more than one parking space, choose somewhere else. There was also a leak in the wall a few months in, and they repaired it quite swiftly, but again, a patchy job, and they did not finish the painting or clean up after themselves, having left scuff marks and red smudges on the walls and cabinets. Throughout the process of communicating to administration, they have been slow to respond, and frequently require two or more reminders of the same question or issue before they address it. I have also received multiple answers to questions that were simply wrong, that then also required further followup. Overall, communication and working with the landlord and administration team has been a nightmare. They have been ill-informed, unprofessional, and unhelpful. This apartment complex comes with extra storage space, a "library," a pool, and a gym. The storage space in 1150 is in the creepy basement that looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months. Don't put anything you value down there. The "library" is also in the creepy basement of 1150, and also looks like it hasn't been cleaned, but does have a rather extensive book collection, which is actually pretty cool. I cannot speak to the pool or gym as I haven't personally seen them. The location is really nice though, as long as you have a car. 10 min. or less will get you to major highways, grocery stores, and a variety of restaurants and other services. TLDR: functional living space, spacious apartments, amateur construction, poor communication from admin team, one parking spot per apartment, nice location."
"I have been living in this apartment for over 2 years. And I had a lot to say in these two years, but nothing that compelled me to write here. But since Friday, 02.03.2023, my apartment doesn't have heat. We opened a maintenance repair ticket, and Rob, the person responsible for the maintenance for the units, showed up on Saturday, February 4, 2023, in the afternoon to ask me about my heat. I told him that the heat hadn't worked since Friday, and the only thing he did was say that he was going to come back, but that never happened. My husband and I even tried to call him, but every time he turned the phone off. That was very disrespectful! Sunday, 02.05.23, we opened another maintenance request; Monday, 02.05.23, we did the same thing and also called the office because they were supposed to be there, but we have never received an answer. Well, today is Tuesday, 02.07.23 and we haven't heard from anyone so far. And the way this property is managed, I don't think we will. On Friday and Saturday, it was extremely cold; even the property sent a message advising guests to call in case of emergencies, but nothing was done. Last night, I started to get sick because my apartment is freezing."
"I have loved living at Stonegate - I lived in one of the newly renovated apartments and loved it. I probably would have lived in my apartment for the next few years if I was not relocating out of state. The management company is responsive and helpful. Any issues I ever had (not many) were fixed as soon as possible. Rob and Pat are also so kind and were extremely welcoming when I arrived and still continued to be kind as I saw them throughout the days. If I ever move back to CT I will definitely be checking Stonegate out first!"
