Reviews of Pebblebrook Apartments
"I’ve been living here for three years and it’s a great place not only for me but my family. The maintenance supervisor Ben is professional and quick to respond. The manager Sharoll is very knowledgeable and efficient."
"Lived here 3 years. TL;DR: It's a slum run by a giant corporation in New York, what do you expect? Pros: • Relatively low rent for the square footage, with key utilities included. • There is an on-site pool, tennis court, and gym. • Location is fairly convenient: within walking distance of Target and Costco and quite close to CT Highway 9 and I-84. Also immediately adjacent to AW Stanley Park. Cons: • Maintenance only responds to emergencies. In my experience they only ever responded to a gas leak from the ancient oven and heavy water damage from the leaky wall-mounted air conditioner, and their solution to the water damage was to paint over the damaged area of the wall. • Maintenance enters units while no one is home with no warning or documentation about why they need to enter. • Calling the leasing office/management during their business hours has about a 50% chance to go to voicemail, and for many potential concerns their advice is to call maintenance, who do not respond to non-emergencies. • Laundry is $5 per load in machines that spew soapy water onto the laundry room floor with every run and dryers that leave clothes damp unless you severely underfill them. • Indoor common spaces (stairwells, lobby, hallways, elevator) are consistently visibly dirty. • Kitchens are ancient, and hot water availability is inconsistent. • Walls are thin enough to hear full conversations from neighbors at normal speaking volume. • Ventilation systems carry smells between apartments, especially in bathrooms. • Balconies are nearly unusable due to the uncontrolled wasp and hornet population. • Pebblebrook contracts Empire Towing, an incredibly predatory company, to patrol its parking lots purely for profit. Visitor parking is sparse and so poorly marked that many residents don’t know exactly where it is, and Empire patrols the parking lots like vultures, towing visitors with no warning whatsoever. • Despite signage to the contrary, the package room does not require ID, and the employees manning the package room only rarely request signatures for packages; seemingly anyone can walk in and take anyone's mail without issue."
"My time at Pebblebrook has been wonderful. We had a couple issues with our toilet and maintenance came right away even when it was 10pm! Amazing. Neighbors are nice and I got along with them well. Safe area and there is always parking for tenants. There could be more visitor parking spots but what I did with my friends is had them park in the commuter lot down the street and picked them up if there was no parking. I lived on the third floor so I had a balcony and did not have anyone above me which was nice and I used my balcony frequently. The leasing department is responsive and they get back to you quickly with any questions you have and they are very nice. I recommend this place to anyone! I wish I did not have to leave I have loved my time here:)"
"The apartments are old, the place smells like weed factory, but you get what you pay for. I got my deposit back in full, I had maintained the apartment well and returned in good condition. That’s the good stuff. The only gripe I have with the management is regarding visitor parking. They are colluding with a towing company and have made a business out of towing visitor vehicles. There are very few visitor spots to begin with and there are no clear directions. If someone unfamiliar with the parking policy visits you, it’s 100% guaranteed that they’ll end up parking in an unmarked spot and will get their car towed. The towing guys patrol the lot like vultures, specially on weekends. When I lived there I’ve seen so many families trying to find their car in the middle of the night. They don’t leave any notice, you won’t get any warning. You’ll be ready to return to your car just to find it’s not there. They can say it’s to make sure parking spots are available for the residents. There are PLENTY of spots available all the time. I’ve lived there for 5 years, haven’t had an issue with the parking spots ever. I’m 100% sure the management gets a cut for every car that’s towed off the lot. ————————————————- Edit: the management’s response confirms that they willingly made the visitor parking policy to generate revenue. Not once did they deny any malfeasance."
"Not an inviting atmosphere. As a visitor visiting a friend's apartment their hallway by the main entrance smelled like chlorine from the pool. The hallway carpets were also dirty. Some utilities in the apartment such as the dishwasher and stove are outdated. As someone who was potentially looking for an apartment in the same area, these factors became a red flag to me. Parking issue: If you're suspected of not parking in an assigned visitor spot marked with a "V" in the back of in the parking lot (which by the way there is no outside sign about), parking officers will block your car and come harass you. My car was parked in the visitor back row next to the "Visitor Parking" sign after almost all the spots were taken, but this one spot left was not painted with a "V" (I was not aware, and my friend who is a tenant saw my car was parked in the correct row and was not blocking anyone). When I came back to my car there was a parking officer vehicle who drove straight up to my car and did not stop pointing at me until I came out of my car. When I asked if there was anywhere else to park if spots run out he said "No. Read the sign." He followed my car out until I left. It honestly left me worried about visiting my friends in their apartment again. I highly don't recommend."
