Reviews of SETSUKO at Jean Claude
"I visited the salon for the first time on the recommendation of my previous haircutter/stylist. He highly recommended Setsuko and wow, was she amazing! Everything was perfect! Color, cut and blow dry were all beautiful. Looking forward to many future visits."
"THIS PLACE BURNS PEOPLE. Look at my pic and review below from Roma Clifford—Setsuko KNEW there was a problem and didn't change anything so she ended up burning someone else too. Negligence. Perm gave me a burn so bad I had to go to the ER and get steroids. Never offered to pay the ER copay or give me my money back. Lied about ignoring my emails with the “oh my phone must be acting up” excuse we've all heard before. Literally adding insult to injury. Owner is a truly horrible woman. The fact that she still hasn't offered to make it right is the proof."
"I’m going to be honest, they did a good job with the hair both times I came in. The first time the lady that serviced me was very nice and did everything I asked for, the second hairstylist did everything but did not disclose anything she was doing. I normally only get haircuts at salons, and this time I came in for a balayage. I requested it through a booking website for 1/2 of balayage, and when I came in, the hairstylist asked me what I was looking for. I told her, and she asked for me to show her pictures and I did. I assumed that is what she was doing. She said “I’m going to take a picture,” without asking, and did so. At the end of the hair coloring, she proceeds to blow dry my hair. I assume that was the normal, since she didn’t ask me. I was running late somewhere so as she started getting out the hair straightener I told her to leave it as is. She said “Oh, I’ll only do the front.” As she proceeded to do my whole head. At the end, I was going to say something to the receptionist, but she followed me to the front and there was another hair stylist there. The total came out to $200 more than I was planning to spend. I’m not very confrontational, so I just said I was leaving tip on my card. They said that the hairstylist couldn’t accept tip on card, but there was a “bank next door” or that she had Zelle. She put her information in and they continued to stare at me as they said “Did it send? I didn’t get it.” I believe in 20% tip so with the new price I paid 120% more than I would have paid if I got the original balayage I had asked for. The hair is good, I just feel that things could have been transparent. Edit: Owner got back to me. Very nice, I'm glad it was resolved."
"Terrible place, horrible management and client interaction. I got my hair done by Setsuko in early September, I actually liked the results of the initial service and was going to leave a good review. But after a few days I started having intense burning and itching on my scalp, I reached out to the salon to ask what products they used on me to figure out if I was reacting to something they used. I was not accusing them in any way, I just wanted to be informed. It took them three weeks of me calling every few days to actually respond to me and when they did I was appalled. Setsuko was flippant and outright denied that I could react to anything they used on me because no one else had ever had a reaction. When they finally sent me the shampoo and conditioner they used on me it turns out their products contain propylene glycol, an ingredient banned throughout Europe for being too harsh on skin. I was not accusing them of intentionally harming me, asking for money back, or trying to get free services, but Setsuko was rude and disrespectful and ignored my concerns. At this point after 2 months I’ve lost half my hair with their service having been the only change in my routine. With my experience with them, I hope no one ever dislikes their cut or color because they would probably be ignored just as I was. While I was happy with my balayage, it’s basically gone now because so much of my hair has fallen out and I wasted over $150. Be careful if you go here, they don’t care about their clients just the money."
"I have been a client of Setsuko for many years.. Service is outstanding. She knows my hair and is accommodating to my schedule."
