Reviews
"I’ve only taken out. Have not eaten in so can’t comment on service, etc. raised in nyc, I’m a Chinatown devotee. I’ve eaten Asian cuisine for close to 60 years far and wide. This restaurant shocked me with how good every dish I’ve tried. From crispy fried dumplings, to perfect hot and sour soup to entrees, every dish has been truly excellent. I rarely give 5 stars in any review. This restaurant deserves it."
"Used to be Haiku but now under new management. I like it better now. Ate here this Saturday and very much enjoyed our meal. We had a variety of sushi, soup and an app. All was very good. The Chinese food aspect seems to be a bigger part of the menu. The Won Ton soup was excellent. I had the Char Shui a previous time and it too was great. I haven't tried the dumplings yet because they are crazy expensive. Can't bring myself to order $12 soup dumplings or Shrimp dumplings, especially because the number of dumplings per order are so small. Not sure what is going on with the pricing, but hopefully the owners read this and come to their senses. Still, I enjoy eating here. UPDATE: Eat the roast duck!! Delicious, juicy and plentiful for 2 people."
"The food is good enough overall but the prices have increased far beyond a typical suburban Chinese restaurant. It's cheaper to eat at upscale local Italian. The service in the restaurant is usually good and courteous."
"Didn’t have high expectations but was surprised. A restaurant needs courage to put the Roasted Duck in the menu in such an area that is lack of Asian customers. But as a Cantonese I have to say, it was way more authentic than I expected. The meat was moist and juicy, with correct flavor. The skin was crispy. A small disappointment was that it didn’t come with the plum sauce but hoisin sauce. And it should be made with a duck with better quality, but that would be more expensive, so I think the way now is acceptable. Overall, it is absolutely worth a try. We also tried two dim sums. The Pork Soup Dumplings were more like a homemade style, looking awkward but tasting not bad. I couldn’t help eating one more although I knew it would make me fat. The Crystal Skin Shrimp Dumplings (Har Gao) weren’t cooked well. They were over-steamed and the skin was too moist. But it still tasted good inside. I believe they have a good Cantonese chef I would definitely like to try more Cantonese dishes here."
"I have ordered twice from Tzen. First time I got the Sushi Lunch. The fish tasted as if it was caught that morning. Second time I got mixed vegetables in garlic sauce. Again — so fresh and the sauce was just right — very light and du not overpower the taste of the vegetables. Sesame noodles also delicious."
