"This place is so underutilized! It's gorgeous, but needs some maintenence. The indoor courtyard with a pool is such an interesting feature! But if people aren't using it, they don't have the money for upkeep... Conference rooms are of varying sizes, accommodating groups from the 15 or so we had to spaces large enough to hold a much larger group! I'd love to see it used for a prom or other dance!"
"Oh this rustic old cottage! with the most cozy feeling welcomed my team with open arms as we arrived last night. Erin is super duper helpful and gets the job done βοΈ I can only hope we get the experience again tonight if we are still ventured out this way!"
"Had the sad experience staying overnight at the hotel Friday Oct. 20, 2023. We were in the pet friendly dark, dreary, dungeon area of the hotel. The hallway was dirty, dimly light, trash on the floor, and the stench of skunk and bleach in the hallway came into the room. The room itself was also dirty, and disgusting. Old broken-down furniture, no fridge, no microwave, nothing. Scary looking outlet in bathroom where their hair dryer was plugged in, I did not dare use it! And a bug in the bathtub! Bathroom floor was dirty. The bathtub drain was broken. By the time you got done taking a shower, the water in the tub was up to your ankles! Is this what the Sturbridge thinks of pet owners? I would not recommend this PET friendly hotel to anyone!"
"I made the mistake of staying here on my wedding night, booking the "King Lakeside Suite" for almost $400. The first impression of the place is that of an abandoned mall. All of the hallways are lined with stained, dirty carpets that smell like mildew. The room could have been okay, but it was very awkwardly arranged so that your "suite" is just two big empty rooms. My heart sank the second I walked in there knowing I could have gotten a comparable motel room for $80 instead of this. The ceiling has clearly been leaking for a while and is falling apart. The table below with the coffee/cups etc was covered in pieces of the ceiling and has water stains on it, so this is obviously not a new issue. The curtains covering the windows were completely covered in brown stains. There's no way they could be missed by anyone in housekeeping or management. The sliding door has (or is supposed to have) some kind of bracket/locking mechanism "for your safety" but that broke at some point so there's a metal pole wedged in there instead. Make sure you bring some kind of footwear because the carpets are sticky. The woman at the front desk was very polite and friendly and wrote down my concerns and noted that she saw pictures of the issues, and said that management would review it as soon as they came in and would reach out to me. Three days later I still have heard nothing."
"Based on history I thought I was getting a top notched hotel and considering as much as I paid for just one night I expected much more than what I got. The room was not what I expected. The toilet wouldn't flush. The window was cracked open and wouldn't shut and it was cold all night with the heat running. There was no refrigerator or microwave and discovered that it would cost an additional ten dollars a night each. The restaurant was closed down and the bar served no food, so, you would have to go to town and eat at a restaurant elsewhere. It claimed to have a golf course or put put... doesn't exist. The elevator was on the other end of the building from the office and if you are handicapped will need a wheelchair to get to it. The small pool looked okay but I was told that it was very cold. The room was non handicapped and was almost impossible to get out of the tub. It is nothing you expect but extremely high prices and would not recommend it to anyone. On the plus side as to why I gave it two stars is because the bartender was great and makes the best bloody Mary you ever had!"
