Reviews of Red Roof Inn Hartford - New Britain
"I was disappointed by the quality of the room and public areas. My room smelled like something was burnt and the elevator seemed to have pee stains in the corner. Something felt unsettling I was actually nervous to sleep here. I ended up booking a different place even though I had a 2 night non-refundable booking here. I just could not sleep here - I even considered just sleeping in my car."
"THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! One staff member was very aggressive with me and tried to barricade the door of my room, and wouldn’t let me close my door. He threatened me over a lighter I had borrowed from him. He went so far as to say if he didn’t get his lighter I would not get my deposit back. Extremely unacceptable!!!! The front desk lady was very condescending and rude. She was not helpful at all and refused to tell me when a manager would be there. She sneered in my face a few times and I left there feeling like I did something wrong. I wouldnt wish my experience there on anyone. The owner refused to respond to my emails and nothing has been done to ensure I was ok, after there employee scared me. Hopefully BBB will help."
"WORST. EXPERIENCE. EVER. *IMAGES ATTACHED* Where do I begin... I stayed at this Red Roof Inn in New Britain for 2 nights with a friend. I booked a non-smoking room with 2 beds. Check-In was easy and we headed to our room No. 214. This hotel seemed perfectly acceptable at first, the hallway smelled noticeably smoky, but that is understandable when there are other smoking rooms in the building. Our room seemed relatively clean, with just minor stains on the bedsheets and mattress. However, my first problem arose when I tried to take a shower. The bath was visibly worn but when I turned on the faucet, water was spraying and leaking everywhere. I had to use all of our 3 small towels to try and soak up the water that was pooling into the bedroom. I called the front desk about the problem and requested more towels. They told me, "Maintenance isn't currently available, but we can switch your room." I didn't want to be a nuisance, so I soaked up the water with the extra towels. It wasn't until a few hours later that my friend and I saw a ROACH coming out of the bathroom. Obviously we killed it, and immediately asked to switch to another room. My friend and I were sent to room No. 308. This hallway didn't smell as smoky as the previous one. Before we got adjusted, we inspected the bedsheets and mattress just as we did in the first room. The filth on these beds was absolutely disgusting. One of the beds did not even have a mattress protector. The mattresses looked as if someone was murdered on them. Puddles of blood stains and other foreign substances covered them. I followed up with the front desk again and politely asked for another room change, which they were more than willing to provide. When I went back down to get my new room keys, I also showed him the images that I have attached to this review. He agreed that the cleaning service was unacceptable. So we went into our final room, No. 202. The room, mattress, and sheets were the cleanest that we've encountered. The only problem with this room was a missing remote, but I got a new one from the front desk. After a long night of problems and switching rooms, we asked for a late check-out and slept in. I wish that was the end of it. I checked-out of my room and proceeded to walk out the door when I couldn't find my car in the parking lot. When I first checked-in 2 days prior, I was given a slip to put on the dashboard of my car. I told the front desk that I don't see my car. She asked me, "Did you put the slip on your dash?" I replied yes. She said, "If its not on your dash or if it's not visible then it was probably towed." I was in shock. I asked for the information of the tow company and she reluctantly gave it to me. It seemed like she could care less. I had to get a ride from my friend to this Auto-Body Shop. I told the mechanic my situation, insisted that I put the slip on my dashboard, and showed him my receipts to the hotel. The man was very nice and understanding but I still had to pay $170 to get my car back. When I finally got my car, I noticed that the piece of paper the hotel gave me slipped down the corner of my dashboard, where only the corner was visible. Unbelievable. After all of this, I just wanted to go home. I thought this nightmare was finally over, but no. The following day I got a knock on my door from 2 Bounty-Hunters/ Bail-Enforcement Agents. They asked me if I stayed at the Red Roof Inn in New Britain and had my car towed. I was confused, but I said yes. Apparently this woman named "Randy" has warrants out for her arrest, identified as me, and used my likeness at the Red Roof and/or the Auto-Body Shop. I don't know how she was able get access to my ID, those were the only 2 places I showed it to. In conclusion, this experience was my personal hell. This place has low sanitary, maintenance, and safety standards. After all of this, I never got the decency of a refund, a discount, or anything. This place is corrupt and needs to get shut down. I will follow up with the New Britain Health Department and the Better Business Bureau."
"I stayed in this hotel for the past week. The rooms are clean very and at the right price. The front desk staff and the manager were very accommodating and took care of my needing extra towels and other things during my stay. They are also pet friendly, so I was able to bring my dog. This is a great place to stay on a budget!"
