To reach the viewpoint, embark on a picturesque walk through a tunnel of historic macrocarpa trees from the car park at the end of Sandymount Road. As you wander through coastal pastureland for approximately 1 kilometer, you'll be captivated by the serene beauty that surrounds you. Upon reaching the viewpoint, prepare to be mesmerized by the stunning vistas to the northeast, showcasing Allans Beach, Hoopers Inlet, Poatiri/Mt Charles, and the majestic Wharekākahu/Harbour Cone.
For those seeking a more exhilarating journey, our circuit track continues along the coastline, granting access to Sandymount summit and a marked route leading to Sandfly Bay. This 45-minute adventure takes you through diverse landscapes, allowing you to immerse yourself in the wonders of nature. Alternatively, you can access Sandymount summit and Sandfly Bay via a separate track opposite the car park, providing flexibility and variety for your exploration.
As you traverse the track, please exercise caution, particularly around cliff areas that may become slippery and unstable after heavy rain. The circuit track also passes through a working farm, so be mindful of moving vehicles. Additionally, keep an eye out for ongaonga, a stinging nettle that grows in certain areas along the track. During high winds, it is advisable to avoid the forest areas as branches may fall from trees.

"Pretty challenging drive to this area on a steep gravel road. Though it is worth the views. A decent loop walk from the Carpark takes you around the view points and to the chasm in the area. Though I think that one was not worth approaching. Too great of a risk. Very much enjoyed the potter and watching surfers battle the waves below."
