Welcome to Purakaunui School, a unique and picturesque institution located in the beautiful country of New Zealand. Nestled amidst farmland and native bush, our school is perched on Heyward Point, Mihiwaka Road, offering breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.

Our school boasts two sunny classrooms equipped with cozy log burners, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere for learning. Additionally, we take great pride in our purpose-built library, which is stocked with a wide range of books, ensuring that our students have access to a wealth of knowledge.

The expansive school grounds offer a multitude of recreational opportunities for our students. From a tennis court and soccer field to a playground and a popular sandpit, there is no shortage of activities to keep our young learners engaged. The presence of shrubberies, big trees, hammocks, and hut-building potential further enhances the charm of our school environment. And let's not forget the exciting addition of a Pizza oven, providing a unique culinary experience for our students.

Located on a hill between Port Chalmers and Waitati, Purakaunui is blessed with a northward opening inlet and a sheltered bay with a long sandy beach. The headland is home to an ancient Māori Pā, Māpoutahi, adding a rich cultural dimension to our surroundings. The village of Purakaunui itself is a peaceful haven, offering spectacular walks and nearby places to explore.

Our school is deeply rooted in a supportive community. Serving as a focal point for the townships of Long Beach, Purakaunui, and Osborne, we are fortunate to have an incredibly supportive community that values education and invests in the growth and development of our students.
