Welcome to the Centre for International Health, located in Dunedin, Hanover Street, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, we are proud to be a part of the Division of Health Sciences at the esteemed University of Otago.

At the Centre for International Health, our primary focus is to facilitate and promote research that contributes to the understanding and improvement of health in under-resourced countries. We are dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by these communities and strive to make a positive impact on their well-being.

One of our key areas of emphasis is postgraduate training and strategic mentorship of leaders in the field of international health. We believe that by nurturing and supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals, we can create sustainable change and improve health outcomes worldwide.

Our Centre is led by two distinguished professors, Philip Hill and John Crump. Both professors are New Zealand medical graduates with specialized training in infectious diseases, microbiology, and public health. They also possess advanced research training from renowned institutions such as the British Medical Research Council, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Duke University.

From our base in New Zealand, we collaborate on projects in Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. These partnerships involve multi-million dollar initiatives aimed at tackling pressing health issues and providing innovative solutions. We are proud to work alongside organizations such as the Gates Foundation, UNICEF, and the World Health Organization to make a real difference in the lives of those in need.

Our professors actively contribute to the global health community and sit on committees of several prominent organizations. Their expertise and insights help shape policies and strategies that impact healthcare on a global scale.
