Pacific Trust Otago
About the Business
Welcome to Pacific Trust Otago (PTO), a charitable organization located in Dunedin, New Zealand. Our mission is to support and empower the Pacific communities in the Otago region, guided by cultural values. We offer a range of support services in health, social, education, and cultural sectors, all tailored to meet the unique needs of our Pacific communities.
At PTO, we strive to enhance the wellbeing of Tangata Moana in Otago and beyond by providing sustainable and culturally responsive services. This includes promoting health and wellbeing, education, economic empowerment, social support, and cultural preservation.
One of our key programs is the Financial Literacy session, designed to equip our youth and community members with practical knowledge about money management. Our facilitators cover various topics such as income sources, economic and cultural factors, saving, banking, and budgeting, among others.
In collaboration with Vision Chartered Accountants, we also offer training sessions on the Xero accounting package, providing valuable insights into this important tool for financial management.
We are proud to receive funding from government organizations such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry for Pacific Peoples, and the Ministry of Social Development. Additionally, we are grateful for the support of our partner agencies and providers, who contribute grants to help us further our services.
PTO is committed to inclusivity and representation. Our governing body consists of representatives from nine ethnic groups from the Pacific islands, ensuring that all Pacific nations are well represented in our organization.
Dunedin is home to a vibrant and diverse Pacific community. Cook Islanders, who have been part of the community since the 1940s, actively support PTO. Tongan, Kiribati, and Solomon Islander communities are also engaged in a range of activities and have strong connections to PTO.
We are constantly expanding our offerings and services, and we rely on your support to continue making a positive impact. Together, we can create a brighter future for Pacific communities in Otago and throughout Aotearoa.
