"Blonde checkout chick snatched the product back and said she could not sell to me after producing an Australian drivers licence apparently I needed a New Zealand passport to buy alcohol.. mind you I am in my mid thirties and she sold to another tourist right before me"
"This place is the most expensive wine shop that I have ever been to, BY FAR !!! An example, Their prices are $93 for a bottle of mum and $122 for Verve, !!! One minute around the corner and it was $55 for a bottle of mum, this business obviously does not work on repeat business...:."
"Absolutely terrible! The guy almost locked me inside the store tonight and didn't sell me a beer either. I left Lower Shotover only for this beer and nothing. If you have another liquor store available, go for it and avoid Betty's"
"Brilliant service - staff went above and beyond to recommend the perfect whiskey and arranged to have it delivered, as well as gift wrapping it and adding a card! Super friendly and helpful, would definitely shop here again."
"I kindly commented to the employee behind the register that I was surprised how expensive the prices were. $150 for a small bottle of Hendricks that would cost $30 in the states. She said with taxes shipping etc it drove the prices up. I asked if there were products from New Zealand that did not have shipping costs extra taxes etc that were similar in quality but cheaper because they were not imported. She said that New Zealand products were even more expensive because they could be exported for more money than sold in NZ. She then asked me to leave the store because I was irritating her with my questions. I was there less than 30 seconds and was the only customer in the store. She said to me there was another store a block away. I went there and prices were half as much and customer service was 1 million times better. Do yourself a favor. Do not give them your business."
