Welcome to Portobello School, located on the stunning Otago Peninsula in the South Island of New Zealand. Situated just a twenty-five minute drive from Dunedin City, our semi-rural primary school offers a unique educational experience for children aged five to thirteen.

Portobello School is proud to be an integral part of the cultural, environmental, and community landscape that makes the Otago Peninsula such a special place. One of the cornerstones of our school is our strong relationship with the local Māori community. Te Runanga o Ōtākou, a Māori organization, is deeply intertwined with our school's heritage and values. The Ōtākou Marae, located on the Otago Peninsula, holds great historical significance as one of the sites where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840. As the noho school for Ōtākou Marae, we are committed to honoring and embracing Māori culture, language, and history.
