SPCA Dunedin Centre

Welcome to the SPCA Dunedin Centre, located at 1 Torridon Street in Dunedin, New Zealand. As the oldest SPCA in New Zealand, established in 1872, our centre has a rich history of providing care and support for animals in need.

Situated on 42 acres of picturesque land in the hills of North Dunedin, our purpose-built centre has been thoughtfully designed to ensure optimal care for the animals under our protection. We offer state-of-the-art cat facilities, complete with a hospital and surgery, to ensure that every feline receives the best possible care.

In addition to our animal care facilities, our centre boasts a new administration building that includes an education room. This room is equipped with modern technology, allowing us to deliver electronic presentations and educational talks. We frequently welcome school groups and other community organizations, providing them with an opportunity to learn about animal welfare and our work.

Our dedicated team of volunteers, who we are incredibly grateful for, play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of our centre. Alongside our animal attendant team, they care for approximately 2,000 animals each year that come through our doors, ensuring they receive the love, attention, and medical care they need.

Supporting our mission is a committed and active Supporters Group. Their tireless efforts help us raise funds for the vital services we provide, including our annual fundraising ball, a highly anticipated event in the Duendin events calendar. Additionally, we are fortunate to have a popular op shop located in North Dunedin, which also contributes to our fundraising efforts.
