Te Puna o Whakaehu - Mosgiel Public Pool
About the Business
Welcome to Te Puna o Whakaehu - Mosgiel Public Pool! Located at 215 Gordon Road in Mosgiel, New Zealand, our establishment is a must-visit point of interest in the area.
Te Puna o Whakaehu complex offers a range of facilities designed to cater to the needs of our community. With a leisure pool dedicated to recreational play for children, a learners' pool primarily used for swimming lessons, and a 25m pool featuring eight lanes for serious swimmers, there is something for everyone here.
Our institution goes beyond just swimming pools. We provide spaces for rehabilitation, relaxation, and physiotherapy, including a hydrotherapy pool that is warmer than the others and a spa for ultimate relaxation. We pride ourselves on accessibility, with ramp access into every pool and two accessible changing rooms.
For added enjoyment, we have an array of cool toys, including large inflatables that are put up during school holidays. These provide endless fun for both children and adults alike.
Te Puna o Whakaehu complex also caters to the needs of the community beyond swimming. Our meeting room is available for use, and our carpark boasts 80 carparks, as well as e-vehicle and e-bike charging stations, promoting sustainable transportation options.
Situated at the western end of Memorial Park, our complex is located on the same site as the old Mosgiel Pool, dating back to the 1930s. The new facility, a joint project between the DCC and the Taieri Community Facilities Trust, has replaced the old pool to better serve the growing population of Mosgiel. Unlike its predecessor, the new facility is open year-round.
Te Puna o Whakaehu - Mosgiel Public Pool operates from 9.30am to 5pm, providing ample time for a refreshing swim or a relaxing soak in our hydrotherapy pool. Please note that on public holidays, there are no group fitness classes or Just Swim lessons available.
Our pool features a leisure pool and a learn-to-swim pool, both with depths suitable for younger children. The leisure pool even includes a wet deck/toddler area and water features that sprinkle out water, adding to the fun.
If you're interested in swimming lessons, we have multiple providers offering learn-to-swim or swimming progression lessons. Whether you're a beginner or looking to improve your skills, our instructors are here to help.

"A good alternative to the Moana pool. Recently opened - and it shows. Almost outside of Mosgiel, it has a decent parking lot. A single 8x25m lap pool. But due to not many schools using it, you can easily get a feee spot. Changing room and showers are well made. The spa is pretty nice. The place is not as big as Moana, but good for serious swimmers."
"Good pools. Was a bit underwhelmed though. I read somewhere that it was going to have a lazy river like Moana Pool, but I didn't see one. The pool next to the spa is nice and warm though. I know about the whole name thing, but they should have put BOTH Māori and English. Good pools. Was a bit underwhelmed though. "Really nice pools, layout is great. However I wish there was more on offer here for kids. At the Oamaru pool they have a rope swing, diving boards, bombing platform and slides. Not even a lazy river here."
"Such a fantastic pool, you can snag a park right out front, so quick and easy to get into, super friendly staff. Fantastic facilities such as tog dryers and poolside showers. The spa pool is amazing and as far away as you can get from the kids pool - clever! The three kids pools are lovely and a great depth, the pool water is flush with the floor so you can glance across all kids pools to keep an eye on everyone. You can let your little ones safely wonder a little further and give them some more independence with the shallow depth which gets deeper very gradually. Beautifully accessible to the elderly, disabled, young whānaus & highly anxious like myself. Such a huge asset to the city and the wider Mosgiel community."
"Love the new facilities and the Hydrotherapy pool js Luke getting the Physio pool back. Warmed to a lovely 38degrees. Also no kids under 14 allowed. They were not that great at enfitcing that so a lot of parents were bringing kids in that pool. They need a sign rather than telling you. And the changing rooms are awesome with tog dryers!! Like the ones at Hanmer Springs. I love that. Will definately be going regularly. Especially as my Moana pool consession card works at both"
