Welcome to the Institute of Registered Music Teachers of New Zealand (IRMTNZ) | Ako Puoro! Located in Dunedin on Lynn Street, our institution is a point of interest for music enthusiasts and aspiring musicians alike. As Aotearoa New Zealand's only professional organization for private music teachers, we are proud to have been established by an Act of Parliament.

At IRMTNZ, we are dedicated to setting high standards for teaching and supporting music teachers in building and maintaining successful and professional teaching practices. Our goal is to benefit both teachers and their students, as we believe that music is a fundamental part of most people's lives and has its own special rewards.

In addition to providing a platform for connecting with qualified music teachers, IRMTNZ also organizes regular national conferences featuring noted presenters and excellent networking opportunities. We understand the importance of continuous learning, which is why we offer a range of distance learning music teacher training courses.

As an institution, we are committed to minimizing our carbon footprint and have taken steps to become carbon neutral. We regularly review our national-level business activities and travel to ensure that we offset any carbon costs.
