Maori Hill School
About the Business
Welcome to Maori Hill School, a primary school located on Passmore Crescent in Dunedin, New Zealand. Our school is not only an establishment and point of interest in the community, but also a place where our students thrive and grow.
At Maori Hill School, we believe in promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. That's why we have been participating in the annual Active August initiative, encouraging our children and whānau to walk, ride, or scooter to school. Just yesterday, we celebrated our getting to school activities with Kerri, Scout, and a hot Milo drink, fostering a sense of community and fun.
In addition to our active initiatives, we also prioritize the well-being and safety of our students. Due to widespread ice, we had a late start on Thursday, August 10th, with classes beginning at 10am. We ensured a smooth drop-off process from 9.30am, keeping our students' safety in mind.
At Maori Hill School, we understand the importance of creating a vibrant and enjoyable learning environment. Recently, we held our annual PTA Disco with a bright winter rainbow theme. The event was filled with laughter, great costumes, dancing, and delicious food. A photo booth captured the excitement, creating lasting memories for our students. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our organizers and the PTA and Whānau who made it an amazing night out.
We take pride in the achievements of our students, both academically and artistically. Our two senior teams recently competed in the local EPro8 competition, where they showcased their collaborative skills and created impressive final products. We commend all the team members for their hard work and dedication.
At Maori Hill School, we also value community engagement and giving back. Our Junior Choir visited two local Rest Homes to perform last Thursday, bringing joy and music to the residents. The children performed four songs for each group, and the audience participation and engagement were incredible.
Our school councillors and PAL's (Physical Activity Leaders) organized our first-ever Blue Fun Run to raise money for Diabetes NZ. This event not only improved our well-being but also brought the entire school community together. The participants ran 122 laps of the school in six hours and raised an impressive $246.30 for Diabetes NZ.
We believe in nurturing our students' physical health as well. The Junior school recently held their annual cross country run at Prospect Park, with enthusiastic support from whanau and friends. The participants recorded some very quick times and everyone enjoyed the beautiful Dunedin sunshine.
We strive to provide unique and enriching experiences for our students. Last week, our Year 4 children, staff, and parents had a wonderful Marae experience. From a powhiri welcome to a variety of activities and an overnight stay, followed by a walk up Flagstaff, it was truly a highlight of the year. The beautiful Dunedin weather allowed us to complete all the activities at the Marae and enjoy the sunshine on our walk. We extend our gratitude to our staff, the Marae, and our parents for their support during this memorable trip.
At Maori Hill School, we embrace creativity and celebrate diverse interests. We recently had an out-of-this-world disco with a space theme, transforming our school hall into a cosmic wonderland. The annual school disco is always a hit with our students, and the PTA group went above and beyond to provide a photo booth, DJ, and delicious treats.
Our Year 6 Kapa Haka group showcased their talents at the annual Otago Polyfest, delivering a lively performance to the enjoyment of the crowd. We are grateful to Mrs. Wetere and Miss Allnutt for their skilled teaching and support of our children.
At Maori Hill School, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and engaging educational experience for our students. With a focus on well-being, community involvement, and academic excellence, we strive to create a positive and vibrant learning environment. Join us at Maori Hill School and watch your child thrive.
