Castle Lecture Theatres

Welcome to Castle Lecture Theatres, located at 362 Leith Street in Dunedin, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest within the University of Otago, we offer a range of lecture theatres and seminar rooms for various educational purposes.

Our Castle Lecture Theatre Complex is situated in the heart of the university's Dunedin campus, conveniently positioned between the Arts Building and the Information Services Building. Within this complex, we provide six pool teaching spaces, consisting of two lecture theatres and four seminar rooms.

Firstly, we have Castle 1, located on the ground floor of the Castle Lecture Theatre Complex. This lecture theatre boasts a capacity of 324 and spans an area of 383 square meters. The seating arrangement is a standard tiered layout, with fixed seats equipped with writing tablets. In case of emergencies, you will find important contact numbers next to the Emergency Telephone on the teaching wall.

Next, we have Castle 2, also situated on the ground floor of the complex. With a capacity of 415 and an area of 325 square meters, Castle 2 offers a similar tiered seating arrangement with fixed seats and writing tablets.

Moving on to our seminar rooms, Castle A is located on the lower ground floor on the northern side of the complex. This room features a standard classroom-style arrangement of movable tables and chairs, providing a versatile space for interactive learning.

Castle B, situated on the lower ground floor on the southern side of the complex, offers a more intimate setting with a capacity of 32 and an area of 48 square meters. Like Castle A, this seminar room is designed in a standard classroom style with movable tables and chairs.

Castle C, found on the ground floor on the southeastern side of the Castle Theatre Complex, is adjacent to the picturesque River Leith. With a capacity of 40 and an area of 63 square meters, Castle C provides another flexible space perfect for workshops or group discussions.

Lastly, Castle D is located on the ground floor on the eastern side of the complex, also adjacent to the River Leith. This seminar room accommodates 38 people and spans an area of 63 square meters, offering the same classroom-style arrangement as Castle C.
