"We paid a deposit to Hunter’s Dunedin shop for 2 expensive Laz-y-boy chairs in August 2022; to be ready by mid-January 2023 (which I thought was a v long wait anyway, but they were the type we wanted). Heard nothing by the start of Feb, so my partner called to find out what was happening - Hunter didn’t appear to know much (except they had a record of our purchase), and emailed Laz-y-boy. No reply the following day, so my partner is again chasing them up. Wouldn’t recommend the slow service or the lack of communication."
"Went to buy a couch that had a price which was on promo last week , lady didn't offer qoute when looked at it last week and now 1000 more expensive. Their loss. Sales people should of told us that last week. This is after a 20 min wait to be served as only 2 people working! Good quality products though."
"Yesterday we went to the Dunedin showroom to browse for a new sofa. We found one we liked. We thought, "let's get it". The salesperson checked out if there was one in stock, and yes there was. Great experience so far, but then it went downhill from there. We were offered a scotchgard treatment for $300+ extra. I first thought, wow we're buying a sofa over $3,000 and it doesn't come with a scotchgard treatment? Then my wife said, that's ok, we'll do the treatment. Then the salesperson said that would void the warranty! We questioned this for a while - apparently it's because the treatment can only be the one that Hunter's use. So then we asked can we use that particular treatment and do it ourselves? The answer to that was that the treatment was a special one and we wouldn't be able to get it! I asked about delivery, and was told that it was $99 (bit steep?) and told it'd be delivered in 4-5 weeks. I asked if I could pay when the sofa arrived, but that wasn't possible - we had to pay the full amount right then. So I pay $3,700 to Hunters for something I won't have for 4-5 weeks!!?! Then I'm told that there'll be a 10% fee if I cancel before delivery. Well why not take 10% non-refundable deposit from me instead of charging the full amount?? We bought the sofa in the end (although we won't have the sofa for a month or so!), but we were both left with a bad taste in our mouths from the experience at Hunter Furniture. And this is through no fault of the salesperson - they're just doing their job. Hunter Furniture (and I'm talking to senior management here) need to stop these sales tactics that deliver the customer a bad experience, because whilst a sale was achieved here, we would never recommend your stores to anyone."
"Hiromi is a stunning woman who was helpful, knowledgeable, and had a sense of humor. A lovely experience. Furniture was great. Robyn Dunlop"
"Also had dreadful service from the manager. I was so upset at the way she spoke to me I transferred my order to the head office. I will never set foot in that shop again"
