"Place was really busy, but they still tried to get through orders as quick as possible. Waited maybe 5 mins for my coffee and it was perfect, nice, hot and strong, so got to sip on that while I waited for my brown cheese roll. It was probably only another 8 minutes, but that was fine considering the place was packed and there was a line out the door, they still apologized and gave me 2 complimentary coffee cards, which was super nice of them. Very friendly staff, will come back again with someone to enjoy my complimentary coffee with them."
"We've been here many times over the last 10 years, but will be giving this place a miss for a while after our last couple of visits topped us off. In a sentence, the food is fine, but the service is not. On one of our visits, we sat for our whole visit at a dirty table, covered in the previous customers tomato sauce splatters while staff walked back and forward without thought of wiping it down. Our hot drink took an age to arrive, and our cake arrived on a boiling hot, dirty plate. Not terrible, but not great! More recently, we plucked up the courage to try again, so headed back in with fingers crossed at a better experience. Unfortunately the sauce accompanying our bowl of chips (Aioli) had a foreign object in it which I plucked out onto a serviette and pulled a team member aside to show, however after explaining that "I found this in the Aioli" he simply replied "Cheers!!", removing it from the serviette and taking it back to the kitchen, never to be spoken of again! Well "Cheers" to you too! Finally - in all my visits to hundreds of different cafe's in my life, I have never yet found a cafe with this many staff that walk around, cluelessly trying to find their respective table numbers each and every single time we visit. The team staff here must love playing hide and seek, because that's what they play every day. It wouldn't be easy (due to the shape of their table area), but there are solutions on the market to solve this and get that inefficiency removed. I'd highly recommend the implementation of a solution like TableLocate. Anyway, we will skip The Good Oil for 2023, and perhaps give it another spin in 2024 where we'll be sure to take notes to update this review!"
"My pasta salad was lush. Lemon meringue was yum. Breakfast bun was good. Chai latte was overdone on the cinnamon. Service....hmm..utensils and drinks where served over us..awkward."
"Terrible service. Had to wait for over 50 mins for meals.Granted it was busy but many other patrons who arrived after us were served earlier and I had to ask for our lunch meal. Eggs bennedict slapped together. Creamy mushrooms cold I let the staff know and they were given back reheated as I had already cut into them I was able to tell that they were the ones that I had already started. Given time frame I would suggest put in the microwave. Very little creamy sauce which had zero flavour. When meal was returned they put some parmesan cheese on top. This was not initially present. Coffee was good but would not have a meal there again."
