"Started primmer one in 1945/6. First teacher,Miss Baron, then Miss Curren for Standard one Standard three Gov.Childs, Standard five Mr Thomson(the milkman)Standard six, Eric Coulson.(four full boards each day of school work) Headmaster in 1945,Mr. Fordice. Headmaster when I left, Mr. Bush (who pushed his desk back to the wall,allowing the room required to STRAP your hand end on!) Being still in the area, I come across ex Sumner School pupils on a regular basis,and was amazed at the 125 reunion to be marshaled into the oldest group,mixing with a past Teacher or two..A great area to grow up in.Incidentally,my mother was a pupil of Sumner School,from primmer one to standard six, and moved on to Sumner (District) High School to finish her schooling years."
