NZ Boarding School Association

Welcome to the New Zealand Boarding Schools’ Association (NZBSA), located at 85 Papanui Road in Christchurch, New Zealand. We are an establishment, point of interest, and school dedicated to supporting schools, organizations, and individuals who provide boarding accommodation for school-aged students.

By joining the NZBSA, schools gain access to a network of like-minded professionals and industry experts who are committed to developing and improving the boarding sector, as well as enhancing the wellbeing of students in their care. Our goal is to provide resources, courses, and events that contribute to the growth and success of boarding schools.

At the NZBSA, we have a team of dedicated individuals working towards the betterment of the boarding sector. Our National Co-ordinator liaises and engages with members, while our Marketing, Design, and Fundraising Co-ordinator ensures our organization remains visible and financially supported. Additionally, our Executive Committee, consisting of Principals/Rectors, Directors of Boardings, and Hostel Managers from various types of boarding schools, provide valuable input and expertise.

We understand that starting a new role as a Head of Boarding can be challenging, which is why we offer a one-year mentoring and support program free of charge to new Heads of Boarding. This program is designed to help them navigate their new responsibilities and ensure their success.

Our annual hui is a gathering that supports members with resourcing, knowledge, and working models to promote cross-sector growth. It is an opportunity for members to come together, share ideas, and learn from one another.

For student leaders, we offer a student hui where they can meet like-minded individuals and enhance their leadership capacity while leading their school.

We believe in the importance of having a voice in decision-making processes, which is why we work closely with the Ministry of Education (MoE), Education Review Office (ERO), and other relevant sectors and legislative bodies. Through these collaborations, we ensure that the boarding industry is represented and considered in big-picture decisions.

We also facilitate connections with major suppliers and sponsors, allowing boarding schools to access quality products and services at favorable rates.
