Te Piringa - Faculty of Law
About the Business
Welcome to Te Piringa - Faculty of Law, located at 140 Hillcrest Road in Hamilton, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, we are dedicated to providing an exciting, challenging, and rewarding experience in the study and practice of law.
At Te Piringa, we offer a range of programmes to suit your legal education needs. Our Bachelor of Laws degree is the professional qualification that opens doors to legal practice and various careers in business, non-governmental organizations, and public service. For those seeking valuable skills in legal research and writing, our flexible Diploma in Law programme is the perfect fit. Additionally, our BA in Law degree is a non-practising qualification that allows you to develop knowledge of the law, its implications, and a sense of justice and public responsibility.
We pride ourselves on our commitment to the development of culturally proficient legal professionals. The study of legal policy and law in its political, economic, and social context plays a central role in our programmes.
Whether you choose our Diploma in Law, BA in Law, or Bachelor of Laws degree, you'll have access to excellent facilities and extensive resources that will support your learning journey. In 2023, all our papers will be available via flexi-learning, allowing you to connect to lectures through Zoom and access recorded sessions if you can't attend in person. We also provide live tutorials and workshops online for a comprehensive learning experience.
For those looking to advance their legal education, we offer a Master of Legal Studies degree for professionals seeking advanced studies in law. Our Master of Laws degree allows LLB graduates and New Zealand Lawyers to specialize in specific areas of law. We also provide a PhD in Law degree for those interested in cutting-edge research supervised by world-leading legal experts.
If you're an overseas Lawyer looking to qualify as a New Zealand Lawyer, our Graduate Diploma in Law offers a pathway for you. Additionally, our unique Graduate Diploma in Dispute Resolution allows graduates to qualify as AMINZ registered arbitrators and mediators.
At Te Piringa - Faculty of Law, we are committed to diversity and representation in academia. With recent appointments, including New Zealand's first Pacific woman to be appointed a Professor in Law, we are taking meaningful steps towards greater inclusivity.
As the strategic rivalry between the United States and China intensifies, we recognize the importance of discussing New Zealand's participation in the AUKUS security agreement. We aim to explore how best to secure our strategic interests and values in the Indo-Pacific region.
We also celebrate the achievements of our students, such as Ally Wollaston, a law student and Hillary Scholar who returned with three gold medals from the UCI Nations Cup track competition in Jakarta, Indonesia.
