Welcome to Tauranga Oral Surgery, located at 15 Brown Street in Tauranga, New Zealand. Our institution, Tauranga Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, was established in 2004 when Dr. John Bridgman joined the esteemed practice of Dr. David Chrisp. We are proud to consult and operate in the McIndoe Clinic, a state-of-the-art facility specifically designed for consultations and day stay surgeries.

At Tauranga Oral Surgery, we specialize in a range of procedures including wisdom tooth removal, dental implant placement, and tooth extraction under intravenous sedation. Both Dr. Chrisp and Dr. Bridgman also hold appointments to consult and operate at Tauranga Public Hospital, where they handle acute cases of trauma and severe dental infections. For surgeries requiring a general anesthetic, such as Temporomandibular jaw joint surgery and Orthognathic surgery, Dr. Bridgman operates at Grace Hospital.

In addition to our oral and maxillofacial surgeons, we are fortunate to have Dr. Brandon Hitchcock, an Ear Nose and Throat Surgeon, who specializes in Cosmetic Facial Surgery. Dr. John Bridgman completed his Dental Degree at Otago University in 1990 and has extensive experience in various practices in New Zealand. He also spent time at the prestigious East Grinstead Maxillofacial Unit in the UK before returning to Tauranga.

Dr. David Chrisp graduated from Otago University in 1978 and gained valuable experience working in New Zealand and the UK. He holds Fellowships in Oral Surgery from the Royal New Zealandn College of Dental Surgeons and the Irish Royal College of Surgeons. Dr. Chrisp has been practicing in Tauranga since 1984 and holds a consultancy position at Tauranga Hospital, where he operates on a weekly basis.

Both Dr. Bridgman and Dr. Chrisp are highly respected members of the New Zealand Dental Association, the New Zealand and New Zealand Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. They have held leadership roles within these organizations and are committed to providing the highest quality care to their patients.
