Welcome to BestStart Beckenham, located in Christchurch, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, we take great pride in being a part of your child's learning journey. From the nursery stage to preschool, we are dedicated to seeing your child develop and grow, preparing them for their next adventure in primary school.

At BestStart Beckenham, we believe in being active members of our community. We regularly organize excursions to our local library, Beckenham and St Peters primary schools, and nearby parks. One of the highlights of our year is our annual trip to Ballantynes for Christmas. Additionally, we have established a reciprocal relationship with Archer Village Retirement home, fostering connections between different generations.

Our small but close-knit team of teachers brings their own unique skills to the table. Through regular professional development and learning from one another, we consistently strive to provide the best care and education to our BestStart Beckenham family.

Our learning environment is truly exceptional. Our purpose-built center offers a spacious and seamless indoor/outdoor flow, surrounded by beautiful gardens and large trees that provide shade and shelter while allowing natural light to flood in.

In our Nursery room, we practice primary care, where each child is assigned a primary caregiver. This approach allows our babies to form genuine bonds with their teachers, creating lasting attachments. These relationships not only encourage children to develop connections with others but also foster a strong sense of belonging and confidence. Your child's primary caregiver is responsible for their daily routines, ensuring their needs are met and progress is communicated effectively.

Our Preschool caters to children aged 2-5 years, creating a vibrant atmosphere of fun learning and activities. Our older children take on the role of tuakana (older sibling) and guide and teach the younger ones, fostering a sense of collaboration and mentorship. We focus on seven key areas: fostering lifelong learners, promoting strong and healthy bones, nurturing curious minds, enhancing communication skills, developing a sense of self and belonging, encouraging literacy and numeracy, and fostering an appreciation for language and culture.
