Our dedicated Principal, Pam Quirke, leads with passion and a commitment to creating the best learning environment possible. With her authentic leadership style influenced by Māori Medium Educational Leadership Philosophy, she celebrates and utilizes the strengths of our staff, students, and their Whānau, creating a highly effective collective team.

When enrolling your child at Deanwell School, we ensure a smooth process by requiring you to complete an enrolment form and provide necessary documents such as your child's birth certificate/passport and immunization records. This helps us create a safe and inclusive environment for all students.

Established in 1973, Deanwell School holds the distinction of being the first open planned school in New Zealand. The innovative design of our school has earned architectural awards, showcasing our commitment to providing a stimulating and modern learning environment. With 16 permanent classrooms and plans for expansion, our school can accommodate up to 18 classrooms by the year's end.

Our facilities include a beautiful library, two adventure playgrounds (one for junior students and one for senior students), and attractive grounds featuring large mature trees. Our spacious areas allow students to play and enjoy the outdoors, while a quiet area offers peace and shade. We take pride in our large swimming pool and undercover astroturf, providing ample opportunities for physical activity and sports.

Deanwell School is fortunate to have Deanwell Park on its western boundary, offering additional space for play and games. This, coupled with our commitment to creating a caring culture, fosters a strong sense of community and inclusivity. Our people, including students, parents, staff, Board of Trustees, and the wider community, are dedicated to making Deanwell School the best learning environment possible.

To keep our families informed, we provide a weekly Tumuaki Update, which promotes our caring culture and ensures open communication between the school and our families. We also prioritize reflecting New Zealand's cultural diversity and the unique position of the Māori culture in our policies and practices.

Deanwell School is proud to be a full primary, co-educational facility catering to students in Years 0 to 6. Located approximately 6km from Hamilton's city center, our school is easily accessible and offers a nurturing and engaging environment for your child's educational journey.
