Kaniwhaniwha Reserve
About the Business
Welcome to Kaniwhaniwha Reserve, a stunning establishment nestled within the picturesque Pirongia Forest Park in the Waikato region of New Zealand. As an enchanting park and point of interest, Kaniwhaniwha Reserve offers visitors a truly unforgettable experience surrounded by natural beauty.
The adventure begins at the Kaniwhaniwha car park, where a track awaits to guide you through a recently planted area. As you follow along the stream, you will be immersed in a lush environment adorned with majestic nikau palms and graceful tree ferns. The tranquil atmosphere provides the perfect setting for a leisurely stroll or a peaceful picnic by the water's edge.
For those seeking a refreshing swim, the stream offers inviting opportunities to cool off and enjoy the natural surroundings. Additionally, a conveniently located picnic and campsite area, complete with toilets, is just a short distance away from the track. Please note that while this area is wheelchair accessible, the loop track itself is not.
If you're up for a longer adventure, you can combine your visit to Kaniwhaniwha Reserve with a trip to the Kaniwhaniwha Caves. Adding just 30 minutes to your walking time, these limestone caves are a fascinating sight to behold. As you embark on the Bell Track, a mere 5-minute walk from the Nikau Walk junction, you will encounter these magnificent caves. While the main cave stretches for 20 meters, please be aware that there is a short hands-and-knees crawl involved. It is advisable to bring torches, as the cave can be wet underfoot.
Access to these remarkable tracks is conveniently located on Limeworks Loop Road. To reach Kaniwhaniwha Reserve from Hamilton, simply take SH23 to Whatawhata. After crossing the bridge over the Waipa River, turn left onto Te Pahu Road. After approximately 10.6 kilometers, you will find Limeworks Loop Road on your right.
At Kaniwhaniwha Reserve, we are committed to providing a shared-use track that promotes harmony and respect among visitors. If you choose to cycle through the park, we kindly ask that you follow the directional signs around the loop track and adhere to the mountain bikers code, which emphasizes respect for others, respect for the rules, and respect for the track.
Come and immerse yourself in the natural wonders of Kaniwhaniwha Reserve. Whether you're seeking a peaceful walk, a refreshing swim, or an exploration of the fascinating caves, our park offers a truly unforgettable experience for all.
