Welcome to Cubbin Theatre Company, a unique institution located at 156 Armagh Street in Christchurch, New Zealand. We are Hannah, Mel, and Amy, the passionate founders of Cubbin Theatre Company. As professional theatre practitioners, our focus is on creating exceptional theatre experiences for children under the age of 5.

At Cubbin, we believe in the power of respect and play in our company's model. We strive to not only be a professional business but also creators of engaging art for young audiences. Our vision is to make high-quality art as integral to early childhood as the playground, making it accessible to all.

Our purpose is to delight and intrigue very young audiences through our creative theatre experiences. We want our performances to be a magical addition to your day, bringing you back to the wonder and marvel of your little ones. Mel, a talented theatre director, is the brainchild behind Cubbin Theatre Company. Her inspiration for creating this institution came from a desire to provide specific theatrical experiences for her own young children. With a Masters in Theatre Arts and experience as an Associate Director at the Court Theatre, Mel brings a wealth of expertise to our company.

Amy, an actor, musician, and mother, has a deep passion for working with children under 5. Her experience at Lewis Eady Music School in Auckland and her graduation from the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art have shaped her creative approach. Amy's musical play teachings with Julie Wylie and her involvement in The Swan Sisters duo and her solo music career under the name Amy Grace add a unique touch to our theatre experiences.

Hannah, a graduate of NASDA and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, has been dedicated to the idea of creating high-quality, respectful, and intelligent theatre for children since witnessing her first baby theatre performance in Seoul, South Korea. Her love for working alongside Mel and Amy in creating special Cubbin work is evident in every production.
