Conveniently situated near the Armagh Street car park entrance, our playground features a variety of play equipment to keep kids entertained for hours. From swings and slides to multi-play structures and climbing towers, there is something for everyone to enjoy. We also have a special liberty swing available for children with disabilities, ensuring that everyone can join in the fun. To use the swing, simply collect the key from our Visitor Centre.

But the fun doesn't stop there. The Botanic Gardens is a haven for nature play, offering more than just traditional playground equipment. Near the playground, children can explore a rock wall and logs perfect for climbing. And throughout the rest of the grounds, there are countless opportunities for your little ones to engage with nature. During the summer months, our paddling pool provides a refreshing escape from the heat. Located right next to the playground, it offers the perfect opportunity for a cool dip during a visit or picnic. Open from mid-November until 31 March, our paddling pool, along with the other paddling pools in Christchurch, promises endless hours of water-filled fun for the whole family.
