Pillars Cafe
About the Business
Welcome to Pillars Cafe, located at 286 Oxford Terrace in Christchurch, New Zealand. Our cafe, situated on the Madras Street side of Oxford Terrace Baptist Church, is a popular establishment that caters to both locals and tourists alike.
At Pillars Cafe, we pride ourselves on our commitment to sustainability and positive change. We have carefully selected our suppliers and products to ensure they have a positive impact on the environment and the people involved in their production.
One of our key suppliers is Common Good Coffee, previously known as Jailbreaker. They source their coffee sustainably from India and ensure that the coffee growers receive fair payment for their hard work. Additionally, Common Good Coffee supports four communities in Kolkata by contributing $5 for every kilo of coffee beans sold, aiming to bring about positive change in these communities.
We also proudly serve Aunt Jean's A2 Milk, which comes fresh from the farm in Nelson. This milk is delivered to us in reusable glass bottles, some of which have been in rotation for over five years! Aunt Jean's A2 Milk is produced by cows that have been tested for A2 protein, making it a suitable option for those with a slight intolerance to regular cow's milk. This milk is permeate-free and non-homogenized, resulting in a delightful cream on top.
In addition to our coffee and milk offerings, we are proud to serve Karma Cola drinks. Karma Drinks is a socially conscious, plastic-free, organic, and fair-trade organization. Since its formation in 2010, Karma Drinks has been funding projects in the communities that grow their ingredients. By purchasing their drinks, you are contributing to the betterment of these communities.
We invite you to visit Pillars Cafe and enjoy our sustainable and ethically conscious offerings. Located at 286 Oxford Terrace, on the corner of Madras Street in Christchurch Central, we are open from 8am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. Come and experience our commitment to sustainability and positive change while enjoying our delicious food and beverages.

"An adorable cafe, with delicious food, nice atmosphere and great service and delicious coffee. All the important things."
"They must be spiking their coffee with cocaine; it's incredibly addictive! I find myself purchasing a cheese scone and a couple of mochas almost every day. (Please keep this secret from my wife, thank you.) All jokes aside, the quality is exceptionally impressive!"
"Very quiet cafe tucked away where the old church was, hence the name. The Pillars outside added a nice touch. Pet friendly . Unfortunately, the 2 staff members looked like they had just come from or on the way to a funeral . The half smiles seemed forced, and they didn't look that happy to be there, which added a chill to the atmosphere . That said, the coffee was the best I have tasted yet in town."
"Small intimate cafe reflects the small cabinet of food on display as well. Coffee was good, a little too cold for my liking. 7/10. Staff not exactly the most welcoming."
"THANK YOU FOR FILLING THE CAFE VOID THAT IS NORTH EAST CBD. Good food, coffee made with Aunt Jean's Milk and Jailbreaker Coffee. Pretty spartan furnishing but it works and its I a lovely spot right next to the river. Coffee is consistently great."
