Additionally, if you have a dental injury caused by an accident, sporting injury, or as a result of dental treatment, you may be eligible for assistance from ACC, New Zealand's accident compensation scheme.

"EDIT (because you can't reply to replies). I booked a hygenist visit with someone I had a good experience with previously. About 5 minutes after booking I was called up to say 'we can't make that appointment time, can we do 15 minutes later?' I agreed, assuming it would be the same person. I arrived only to find that I had been rebooked with someone else, and it was too late to rebook or face paying for it anyway. So I went in for the appointment. The hygenist was pretty rude to me and made me feel very uncomfortable."
