However, in light of the ongoing challenges posed by COVID-19, we have implemented temporary changes to ensure the safety of both our patients and staff.

To adhere to national guidelines provided by the NZ College of GP's and the Ministry of Health, we have transitioned most of our consultations to phone appointments. This measure helps minimize the spread of COVID-19. Rest assured, in-person GP appointments for urgent matters will still be available, but non-urgent and routine appointments will be conducted via alternative means whenever possible.

Occasionally, our doors may be temporarily locked during business hours to protect the health of our staff and maintain our operations. If this occurs, please understand that our dedicated team is still working diligently and can be reached by phone to address your needs.

When you call for an appointment, our trained reception staff will conduct phone triage by asking specific questions to determine the best course of action for your situation. We kindly request your cooperation in this matter, as our staff has been instructed to exercise extra vigilance when scheduling face-to-face appointments.

Please note that our carpark is now serving as our waiting room. For in-person bookings, we ask that you arrive at your appointment time and wait in your car. If you have received a text instructing you to self-arrive in the carpark, please follow the provided link and prompts accordingly. You will not receive a confirmation of your arrival. If you have not received a text, please phone the receptionist upon arrival, and they will register you in our system. Once your doctor or nurse contacts you, put on your mask and be prepared to scan the tracer app as you enter the practice.

We kindly request that you do not arrive at our facility without an appointment. Your patience and understanding during this time are greatly appreciated.

Regarding COVID-19 symptoms, the most common ones associated with the Omicron variant include headaches, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, and fatigue. Other less common symptoms may include fever/chills, shortness of breath, change in smell or taste, muscle aches, nausea, diarrhea, and skin rash. If you suspect you may have COVID-19, especially when case numbers are high, it is crucial to stay at home and get tested. If you are young, healthy, and have received a booster vaccination, any potential COVID infection is likely to be mild.

We strongly encourage those who have not yet been vaccinated to do so in order to reduce the risks posed by COVID-19 to yourself, our community, and our healthcare services. Please visit the official website (https://vaccinations.bopdhb.health.nz/) to find local vaccine centers.

For our enrolled patients, we offer on-site COVID-19 tests (swabs). Please contact us to assess your needs and schedule an appointment. It is important to note that testing usually takes place at our Pyes Pa Road clinic. In the event that our bookings are full, you may need to visit a DHB community testing station.

If you have already taken a COVID-19 test and have not received your results after three days, you can call the 0800 225 449 hotline between 9am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. Please refrain from calling before three days have passed, and remember not to contact Pathlab for COVID-19 test results.

We urge you not to delay your health needs. We remain fully operational and are here to address your concerns, conduct screenings, administer vaccinations, and provide the care you require.
