Welcome to Fifth Avenue Family Practice, one of the longest established practices in Tauranga, New Zealand. We have proudly served the community for over 70 years and are conveniently located close to the CBD of Tauranga.
At Fifth Avenue Family Practice, we have two medical practice sites. Our main practice is situated at 40 Fifth Avenue, Tauranga, while our second site, 5th Ave on 10th, is located at Suite 2, Promed House. Our team of medical staff consists of seven General Practitioners and owner Doctors of the Practice, supported by eight General Practitioners and two Nurse Practitioners with a special interest in various areas of healthcare.
We offer a wide range of services, including routine medical appointments as well as emergency and acute care. Our practice is committed to medical training excellence and proudly serves as a teaching practice for future general practitioners and nurse practitioners.
In addition to our medical services, we have a dispensing pharmacy on site at Fifth Avenue, making it convenient for you to pick up any prescribed medications. We also have physiotherapy and X-ray facilities located adjacent to 5th Ave on 10th at Promed House.
Booking an appointment with us is easy and can be done online. You can also order repeat prescriptions and check your results through our website. We strive to provide high-quality primary healthcare in the heart of downtown Tauranga, offering a comprehensive range of services for all your healthcare needs.

When it comes to fees, we have a transparent payment system. Fees are payable at the reception on the day of your consultation. Please note that an increased fee may be incurred if your consultation takes longer than usual or if special equipment and/or materials are used. Our fee structure varies based on age and card holder status, ranging from free for children aged 0-13 years to $55.00 for adults aged 24 and over.

"The nurses here are great and it’s a beautiful practise - but our regular doctor Ella was away and the doctor covering her apparently doesn’t believe that teething babies need pamol, and wants us to bring our baby in for a checkup. She’s teething and in pain, just like every other sore teething baby, she doesn’t need to be dragged out in the cold to see a doctor who doesn’t believe a mother. If you’re a parent, don’t bother bringing your kids here, you won’t be believed when you’re asking for pamol. They only prescribe really small bottles too, not the normal sizes that other doctors prescribe."
"I’m generally really happy with appts at 5th ave. My doctor is always helpful. The front of house staff/receptionists are however not very warming. I was asked if I had a mask today which I don’t. I said I have a mask exemption, the receptionist then went to say that that doesn’t matter. They must have just changed their “rules” as I have always had my mask exempt accepted there. She was not accommodating, which therefore lead me to have an anxiety attack and the worst experience I have ever had at that practice to date with having to have a mask on. I have an exempt for a reason. And my mask exemption has just as much of a stand as a mask mandate (which a mandate is not lawful). I hope you all can make a change for the better in regards to respect for peoples rights and conditions as this is not how patients should ever be treated."
