Hamilton Junior High School
About the Business
Welcome to Hamilton Junior High School, located at 90 Heath Street in Hamilton, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, we take great pride in being a secondary school that values the importance of education and personal growth.
At Hamilton Junior High School, we have an "open door" policy that ensures our staff are readily available to speak with caregivers, whether it be in person or over the phone. Our dedicated office staff are here to ensure caregivers can connect with the appropriate person, although an appointment or return call may be necessary to ensure availability.
Twice a year, we hold student-led conferences, providing an opportunity for students to share their learning and progress with their families. We believe in fostering a strong partnership between home and school, and these conferences allow for open communication and collaboration.
Our curriculum is designed to enable our students to become successful lifelong learners. It is centered around our vision of "Nurture the Knowledge" (Whāngai te Mātauranga) and our core values of Mana (Integrity), Manaaki (Care), Ako (Reciprocal Learning), and Aroha (Love). In addition, we offer a comprehensive range of essential learning areas for Year 7-10 students, ensuring a well-rounded education. Our Year 9 and 10 students have access to a diverse range of learning experiences, preparing them for their educational pathway and the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA).
At Hamilton Junior High School, we foster a learning community where whānau (family), staff, and students work together to nurture knowledge. We acknowledge the mana whenua of Waikato Tainui and their Tikanga and Kawa (customs and protocols) are reflected in our school. The principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (Treaty of Waitangi) and the bicultural foundations of Aotearoa (New Zealand) are embedded in our curriculum, and we place great emphasis on developing culturally responsive pedagogy. We are committed to nurturing the language, culture, and identity of all our learners.
Symbolizing the journey of our students, Hamilton Junior High School uses the metaphor of a tree. During their time with us, our students grow their Mana (Integrity), Manaaki (Care), Aroha (Love), and Ako (Reciprocal Learning). We strive to provide a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can flourish and reach their full potential.
Join us at Hamilton Junior High School and embark on a transformative educational experience. We look forward to welcoming you and supporting your child's educational journey.

"Hamilton Junior High School is an awesome school that has students from year 7 to year 10. The teachers are amazing and the school is like a whanau. Their school values are Mana, Aroha, Maanaki and Ako. The teachers care about the students succeeding and being functioning members of the community. If you are looking for a small single cell school with a whanau feel definately send your kids here. They also have an open door policy if you want to check them out."
"This is a horrible school, I attend this school for 2 years, 2013-2014. I was bullied and tormented, by fellow pears and the staff ignored it. I learnt nothing from my regular class except basic algebra, and what my tech classes taught me. It didn't prepare me for college at all."
