Housing New Zealand Corporation
About the Business
Welcome to the webpage for Housing New Zealand Corporation, located at Third Avenue in Tauranga, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, Housing New Zealand Corporation plays a vital role in providing homes and communities for residents across the country.
We are pleased to announce that construction of thirteen new public homes in Richmond has been completed, and residents can now move in. These homes are designed to meet the needs of the community and provide comfortable and affordable housing options.
In addition, Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities, the parent organization of Housing New Zealand Corporation, invites public feedback on the proposed key features of a potential Specified Development Project (SDP) for the Porirua Northern Growth Area and the Tauranga Western Corridor. This demonstrates our commitment to involving the community in decision-making processes and ensuring that our developments align with the needs and aspirations of the people we serve.
We are also excited to announce new developments in Dunedin, where Kāinga Ora plans to purchase 18 new homes and build up to nine more. These homes will contribute to the supply of housing in the Otago community and provide more opportunities for individuals and families to find suitable and affordable accommodation.
At Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities, we believe in creating a better future for all New Zealanders. We support initiatives like Mo’ui Feinga Kihe Lelei, where members come together for weaving and craftmaking, not only to promote cultural traditions but also to empower themselves and their community.
Our organization is driven by individuals like Rose, an 80-year-old volunteer who dedicates her retirement to helping those in need. Rose's story is just one example of the many people who give back to their communities, and we are proud to support their efforts.
Sustainability is a core value for us, and we encourage practices like reusing and minimizing waste. This value was instilled in Neil as a child growing up on a farm in Golden Bay, and it continues to shape our approach to housing and urban development.
Since our formation in October 2019, Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities has been at the forefront of housing and urban development in New Zealand. We are committed to enabling well-functioning and thriving communities through best practice urban design and development.
If you are considering homeownership, we offer several products to help New Zealanders achieve their dreams. Use our tool to see what you may be eligible for and take the first step towards owning your own home.

"Not sure how to rate this organisation....??"
"USELESS. My neighbours live in a housing NZ house and have these huge loud brawls scaring my kids and disrupting my work. Have rang them several times and get told they will pass it on to the rental manager who never does anything either. They told me to ring noise control. USELESS"
"I hopeing Housing NZ can help me get 1 bedroom flat in Tauranga or Greetron like Housing NZ good nice staffs crews workers.thank you have a good week at work take care.thanks Aaron Apaapa"
"housing the lazy that sit in state houses on benefits for 20 years and never do anything in life. the rental managers are shocking i would never let my house out through HNZ especially when they chooses tenants that disrespect the house and get away with it. hurry up and sack the "CEO'S" they are focusing on one thing!, them selves, this organization was created in 1894 with intentions of helping people in strife until they can "sort their life out" this does not seem the case anymore. i would highly recommend not dealing with this organizations at all as some of their employees totally disregard the policy"
"I came here sometime in 2009 with a mental health case worker to try and get accommodation organised for me. It has been three years! They said I was put on a list and they would get back to me! NOPE."
