Established in May 2001, The Rainbow was founded to cater to the needs of the local community. Our state-of-the-art facilities offer maximum space and excellent visibility, prioritizing child safety. Our spacious outdoor play areas are designed to provide a wide range of play experiences in a safe and natural environment.
We take pride in our warm, caring, and supportive environment, which extends to our children's families and whānau. Aligned with our gentle Christian philosophy and values, we strive to create a nurturing space for every child. Each child receives individual attention and experiences, while also having opportunities for social interaction within group activities.
Our developmentally appropriate program ensures that each child's unique needs are met in a fun-loving atmosphere. Following the Ministry of Education's Te Whāriki strands and goals, our curriculum is taught from a Christian perspective, reflecting our special character.
Adjacent to The Rainbow, we have a small farmlet, where children can interact with chickens, ducks, sheep, a pig, and mischievous goats. Our vegetable patches, composting, and worm farm are also located in this space, providing hands-on learning experiences. Additionally, we have other pets such as budgies and guinea pigs in the preschool, as well as fish and rabbits.
Rest assured, The Rainbow is fully licensed by the Ministry of Education, meeting their rigorous standards of safety, hygiene, equipment, and quality staff-to-child ratios. As an institution, we are administered by the Person to Person Help Trust, a Charitable Trust set up by Kaiapoi Baptist Church.
