Parana Park is a beautiful and expansive park, characterized by its large, flat terrain and rows of both native and exotic trees that surround the perimeter. This creates an inviting and open green space, perfect for picnics, family outings, and leisurely strolls. The park's irregular shape adds to its unique charm, with a large flat area at the southern end and a small play area located at the top.
For sports enthusiasts, Ashurst Park, located in Pukete to the north of the city, is a sports park that houses the Te Rapa Sportsdrome. It offers a range of sporting facilities and activities, providing ample opportunities for active recreation.
Bremworth Park, on the other hand, boasts a colorful playground equipped with swings, slides, and seesaws. This open space is perfect for children to unleash their energy and engage in exciting playtime adventures. Additionally, the park offers great sports facilities for those looking to enjoy a game or two.
Carrs Park, a mostly flat park with a gentle rise at the southern end, features a small playground specially designed for kids. It provides a safe and enjoyable environment for children to have fun and make lasting memories.
Chedworth Park offers a small playground, complete with a climbing frame and a mini skate bowl, catering to the adventurous spirits of both children and teenagers. The park also features a cobblestone path, adding a touch of charm to its surroundings.
Chartwell Park, conveniently located near the Queenwood Shops, provides not only a playground but also easy access to coffee, snacks, and other goodies. It is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a break while exploring the area.
Parana Park is not the only green space in the city; there are many other neighborhood reserves worth exploring. For example, the park adjacent to Mangaonua Gully is a relatively large reserve with a playground, offering a serene and peaceful setting. Chequers Ave Reserve, known for its distinctive large eucalyptus tree, serves as a local gathering spot with its beautiful surroundings.
Last but not least, Crawshaw Park is one of the largest neighborhood parks in Hamilton. Stretching behind residential areas, this park provides ample space for various recreational activities and is a favorite among locals.
With its diverse range of parks and play spaces, Hamilton offers something for everyone. Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or quality family time, Parana Park and its surrounding areas are sure to exceed your expectations.
Reviews
"very fantastic park. lots of creativity when this was designed and it is such a blast when i went there. the pools are very relaxing and so is the slide. also there is a view to the waikato river which i suggest you should see."
"Quite space to walk through and view gardens and kids play area"
"It's a cool little park, apart from the water features needing a bit of TLC my grandchildren love it. Awesome pathways to wander, waterways very tranquil winding through and along the bush pathways. Cross the little bridge."
"Wonderful place. An awesome walk and day out place. As you walk more with fresh air, you can explore beauty of Waikato river and Hamilton."
"This park has always been a must stop on every trip to or through Hamilton. It is one of the more quieter areas and is situated right by the Waikato River with a nice view of the city on the other side. It is a great location for heaps of photos and a walk down to the river bank. It is probably one of my favourite parks in NZ. There is not much else to say other than that it is a great spot for walking, relaxing or photography. NOTE: Photos were taken right after the first flooding that took place in February. The river is not usually that high."
