Welcome to Art Classes; Qualified Teaching, located at Memorial Avenue in Christchurch, New Zealand. Our institution offers a variety of art classes and tutoring services, led by the talented multi-media artist Rebecca. With her extensive qualifications, including a BFA, BA, Gradiptch, and Tesol Current Practising Certificate, Rebecca is dedicated to providing step-by-step guidance to students of all skill levels.

Our art classes focus on a range of techniques and skills, designed to help students develop their artistic abilities and create finished artworks. From mimicking traditional masters to exploring the styles of contemporary artists, our courses introduce beginners and more skilled students to the world of realistic and abstract drawing.

Through a series of exercises, we cover important aspects such as form, line, tone, volume, mass, perspective, freehand sketching, and constructional approaches to drawing. Additionally, we offer instruction in painting with acrylics, allowing students to explore traditional techniques as well as modern abstract styles. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace and develop their own ideas.

For those interested in oil painting, we offer instruction in the traditions and techniques of the masters, as well as contemporary artists. Our paced instruction helps students develop their skills and progress in their own artistic journey. Similarly, our watercolour classes focus on exercises and technical processes, incorporating aspects of both traditional and contemporary watercolourists. Students are provided with paced exercises to advance their skills and work on their own ideas.

Our classes are kept small, with a maximum of ten students per session, allowing for personalized attention and guidance. The two-hour sessions take place in a spacious and well-lit environment, where students are encouraged to bring their own art equipment and materials. Whether you prefer a specific subject or medium, you can bring your own images and ideas or be directed by our experienced tutor.

We also cater to children, helping them develop their own personal techniques and drawing skills through the use of different media, colors, and subjects of their choice. Our classes for children include personalized direction and advice, as well as the use of images, books, and drawing exercises selected by the child.
