National Trade Academy

Welcome to the National Trade Academy, located at McLeans Island Road in Christchurch, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, we are proud to offer a wide range of training and education options for students from New Zealand and around the world.

At the National Trade Academy, we specialize in providing training and education in a variety of industries, including Agriculture, Equine, Horticulture, and Animal Care. Whether you are interested in learning about farming techniques, caring for animals, or cultivating plants, we have the courses to suit your interests and goals.

In addition to our industry-specific programs, we also offer English language courses for international students, as well as optional land-based packages. This allows students to immerse themselves in both the language and practical aspects of their chosen field.

Our institution prides itself on its diverse range of courses. From Agriculture and Horticulture to Equine and Animal Care, we offer a comprehensive selection of programs. We also provide training in other areas such as Commercial Pilot Licence and Welding. Conveniently located just 10 minutes from Christchurch city, our purpose-built facilities are designed to educate and inspire. We are close enough to the city to make travel easy, yet we have the advantage of 100 hectares of space for practical training and hands-on experience.

What sets us apart is our commitment to involving students in the day-to-day running and development of our Training Centre and its business units. This includes the Arion Farm Park, Arion Riding Centre, NTA Commercial Nursery, and NTA Farm. These entities provide valuable opportunities for students to gain practical, real-world experience while receiving excellent hands-on training.

As an added bonus, we even have our own cherries from our orchard and bee hives for Apiculture courses, as well as our own honey. This allows students to learn about the entire process of beekeeping, from caring for the bees to harvesting the honey.
