Welcome to Charles Street Free Kindergarten, located at 47 Charles Street in Kaiapoi, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, our institution is dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education for children in our community.

Charles Street Free Kindergarten is proud to be a part of the New Zealand Kindergartens Te Pūtahi Kura Puhou o Aotearoa. With a long-standing history in New Zealand society, kindergartens hold a special place in the hearts of New Zealanders. Our institution upholds the institutional trust that New Zealanders have in the brand, ensuring the ongoing viability and message of quality in early childhood education.

As a Not-For-Profit Incorporated Society and registered charity, we are governed by a board of elected and appointed members, demonstrating best practice governance through the adoption of the New Zealand Institute of Directors' Four Pillars methodology. We are also a member-led organization, representing 14 local Kindergarten Associations, each governed by a board of elected and appointed members.

At Charles Street Free Kindergarten, we prioritize the education and development of children by ensuring that our teaching staff is 100% qualified. Our teachers are registered and covered by the same legislation and code of practice as teachers in schools. This commitment to qualified teachers guarantees that children receive the best education and benefit from ongoing development trends in the sector.

In addition to working with our member Associations, we have partnerships with Early Childhood Leadership (ECL) – Counties Manukau, Waikato, and Central Kids Kindergarten Associations. These collaborations allow us to advance mutually beneficial agendas and work closely with other Early Childhood Education Peak Bodies.

Our operating hours vary throughout the year, so please check with your local association for the specific dates. Our usual operating periods are from late January to Thursday 14 April, and from Monday 17 October to late December.
