Welcome to Brewaucracy Brewery & Taproom, located at 34 Mahana Road in Hamilton, New Zealand. Our establishment is not just your average bar or restaurant, but a unique space where beer enthusiasts can truly appreciate the art of brewing.

Founded in 2011 by Greig McGill and Phil Murray, Brewaucracy started off as a passion project. We brewed beers that we loved, often venturing into styles that were overlooked by the mainstream beer scene. While some called our creations "niche," others referred to them as "weird shit that's not IPA." But hey, we're not ones to follow the crowd.

Over time, our dedication to brewing exceptional beers led us to expand our operations. We invested in top-of-the-line equipment, including a shiny pile of stainless steel and concrete, to take Brewaucracy to the next level. Don't worry, IPA lovers, we still make the occasional hoppy brew too!

Greig, standing at 179cm tall, is a talkative character who enjoys oysters, English Barleywine style beers, and loud death metal (and Jerry Garcia, of course). Phil, annoyingly slightly taller, is a deep thinker with a penchant for hipster facial hair, Belgian Tripel style beers, and awful 90s cafe music. He's probably the one editing this description right now.

Our taproom is not just a bar, but an extension of our brewery. It's a space designed for you to sample our beers at their freshest. Come and see where and how your favorite brews are made, chat with our brewers, and simply have a great time surrounded by the tanks.

While we're all about Hamilton and the Waikato region, we also love showcasing guest beers from other local brewers. Occasionally, we even feature special brews from our friends in other parts of New Zealand.

Hungry? We've got you covered. Although we're not a pub, we offer a rotating selection of food trucks every week. Check our Facebook page for the latest updates. And when we don't have a food truck, feel free to bring your own or even order in. Just remember to respect our food truck family by not bringing in outside food when they're on-site.

At Brewaucracy, you can enjoy your drinks on-site or take them away. We hold an off-license, allowing you to sample our range of beers with complimentary 30ml tasters and fill containers to take home. We offer US-style branded growlers in 1L and 2L sizes, and refilling them earns you a 10% discount. We also have plastic 1.25L riggers available for just $1 each. If you prefer to bring your own container, we're more than happy to fill it for you, as long as the volume is clearly marked.

Pro-tip: Our bar can get busy, so it's a good idea to pre-plan your take-away order. Let our friendly staff know in advance, so you can enjoy a beer or two while we prepare your to-go order. It's much better than waiting around when you're ready to hit the road!
