During our sessions, we provide a wide range of play areas for the tamariki (children). From clay to carpentry, paint to play dough, and with a good dose of music, books, blocks, and messy play, there is something for every child's interest and imagination.

At Cockle Bay Playcentre, parents and caregivers play an active role in the running of the center. We encourage all our members to get involved, both during sessions and in the day-to-day operations of the center by volunteering for various roles. Additionally, we offer a free adult education program that provides valuable information on how to support your child's learning and development.

One of the unique advantages of our center is the mixture of ages. Catering to children from 0-6 years old allows for mixed age play, where younger children benefit from the presence and influence of older children. Babies tend to reach milestones such as crawling, walking, and talking faster when surrounded by older peers, while our pre-schoolers learn valuable skills in caring for and encouraging their younger playmates. Our tamariki often see their Playcentre friends as an extension of their own family.

We welcome moms, dads, grandparents, and other caregivers to experience our sessions, which run from 9 am to 12 pm. We kindly request that families attend a minimum of two sessions per week, with an adult from the family staying for the duration of the session.
