Welcome to Cozy Corner Educare, a nurturing and innovative educational institution located at 79 Pilkington Road, Auckland, New Zealand. At Cozy Corner, we believe in creating the right environment for your children to thrive and learn.

Our dedicated teaching team is passionate about meeting the unique and diverse needs of each child, while also supporting the values of individual families. We prioritize open communication and collaboration with parents and whānau (extended family), ensuring that their voices are heard and their aspirations are valued in their child's individual learning plan. This creates a sense of belonging and well-being for both children and their families in our nurturing environment.

Inspired by the work of Emmi Pikler and Magda Gerber, we have carefully crafted a warm, caring, and respectful learning environment where children feel secure, accepted, respected, and comfortable spending time away from their families during the day. The key to this environment lies in the trusting and reciprocal relationships between children, families, and our teachers. Through a primary caregiving approach, each child is assigned a dedicated teacher who builds a close relationship with them and their family, ensuring that every child is seen, heard, understood, and supported in their growth and learning journey.

We have three specific "stage-related" learning spaces/rooms that cater to different age groups. These rooms provide regular opportunities for mixed-age group play and are equipped with rich natural and heuristic resources. The Kowhai room (Under 2s) recognizes the competence of infants as individuals with their own agendas and treats them with respect. The Pohutukawa room (2-3s) offers a rich and inviting indoor and outdoor environment based on children's interests and strengths. The Kauri room (over 3s) focuses on assisting children in discovering their own identities, expressing their opinions, and nurturing their own ideas.

Our emergent and planned curriculum ensures that learning experiences are based on the children's current needs and interests, offering them opportunities for exploration and investigation. We also provide additional learning opportunities such as regular outings, weekly library visits, bushwalk trips, and a comprehensive "getting ready for school" program that helps 4-year-old children develop essential skills for primary school.

At Cozy Corner, we value the importance of documenting each child's journey of learning and development. We offer a high-quality documenting system that celebrates individual children's interests and strengths. Each child has a portfolio book where their teacher adds stories about their interests, strengths, and special milestones. Additionally, our E-portfolio platform, Educa, connects the center and home environment, encouraging parents to be more involved in their child's learning and fostering a strong connection. We also utilize other means of celebrating children's learning, such as our Facebook whānau group, visual diary, infants communication book, and "getting ready for school" book.

We understand that the quality of food significantly contributes to children's growth and development, which is why we prioritize establishing healthy eating habits. Our seasonal menus are designed following the Heart Foundation's guidance, and our experienced Center Cook prepares nutritious and delicious meals on-site using fresh ingredients. We also cater to children with food allergies, intolerances, and specific dietary requirements, ensuring that every child's needs are met.

At Cozy Corner, we believe in planning for individual children based on their interests, strengths, and dispositions. We affirm the identities, languages, and cultures of all children and whanau from a bicultural foundation, ensuring that diversity is celebrated and respected. We also provide rich literacy experiences and connect with the local community to broaden children's horizons.

We strongly believe that children reveal their true strengths when they are in nature, which is why we incorporate nature-based learning experiences into our curriculum. Whether it's exploring our outdoor play areas or engaging in bushwalk trips, children have the opportunity to connect with the natural world and develop a deep appreciation for it.
