About Westlake Girls' High School
Welcome to Westlake Girls' High School, located at 2 Wairau Road in Auckland, New Zealand. As an established and highly regarded institution, we are proud to be a point of interest and a school that consistently achieves academic excellence above national outcomes.
However, Westlake Girls' High School is so much more than just a place for academic success. It is a warm and welcoming community where students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds can call home. We celebrate and embrace this diversity, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
At Westlake Girls, we encourage our students to be adventurous and explore their passions. With over 30 clubs, numerous sports teams, and a wide range of drama, dance, and music ensembles, there is something for everyone. Whether it's joining the Nota Bella Junior Choir and winning a Tui (Gold) award at NZCF, excelling in rock climbing like our talented student Amaya Tan-Peters, or being scouted for basketball in America, our students have the opportunity to shine in their chosen fields.
We also prioritize the development of responsible global citizens by encouraging our students to actively participate in the community around them. Our students engage in various community service initiatives and contribute to making a positive impact on society.
Preparing our students for life beyond school is of utmost importance to us. That's why we offer a STEAM program that helps students widen their career options and challenges gender stereotypes in technical and non-traditional jobs. Starting from Year 9, students can join this program, which includes coding, electronics, design technology, and 3D modeling projects alongside enriched subjects like Science, Mathematics, English, and Social Studies.
For international students, studying at Westlake Girls' High School opens up a world of possibilities. You will become part of a vibrant and multicultural community, make new friends, and experience the warm hospitality of a Kiwi Homestay Family. Our dedicated International team is here to support you throughout your time with us, ensuring that you make the most of every opportunity, whether you stay for a term or five years.

Reviews of Westlake Girls' High School
"They are discriminatory towards students with mental health issues, especially those with self harm scars. If your child has issues with anxiety, depression, OCD or other disorders, this school will NOT support them."
"I have decided to write a review on this school’s website page as I have been appalled by the behaviour of some of the students who attend Westlake. My friend experienced racism from a student—shocking, knowing that this is meant to be a school for respectful girls… Not racist and rude girls. Do the teachers even teach manners here? The girls are rude and stuck up, not only that but they are narcissistic. This behaviour is embarrassing. I have heard many complaints from friends about the behaviours of these girls and wouldn’t you expect them to be well behaved and respectful as they go to a nice school? I guess it’s not nice after all. I didn’t go into too much detail but I hope the students don’t grow up with the same attitude/behaviour, otherwise they’d be giving everyone around them a headache."
"It's good and all but it's a really strict school like one time i forgot my mat book and i got detention ."
"Great opportunities for music students and sports. Overall attitude is excellence or bust which is mostly unhelpful if you aren't the greatest at school. Experienced a large bullying culture although the school has a zero tolerance bullying policy. Know of people who moved schools because of this"
