About the Business
Welcome to the Doyle Academy of Irish Dance, located at 145 Cascades Road, Auckland, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, we offer dance classes for preschoolers, children, and adults at multiple locations throughout Auckland. Currently, we are in Papakura, Remuera, and Pakuranga, and we are actively searching for a permanent home for the Doyle Academy in 2022. We are proud to be the only qualified and registered Irish Dance school in East and South Auckland.
At the Doyle Academy, you will be taught by our qualified teachers, Leeann and Paula, who are registered with the Traditional Irish Dancing Association of New Zealand and the An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha (International Irish Dancing Commission). They bring their expertise and passion for Irish dance to every class, ensuring a high standard of instruction tailored to each student's needs and abilities.
Since our inception, the Doyle Academy has achieved remarkable success in regional, national, and international competitions. We have earned 58 New Zealand Solo titles, 205 World Qualifications, 35 New Zealand Team titles, 6 solo scholarship awards, 3 AIO Champions, 5 World Championship recall medals, and 1 World Championship Medal. Join our academy and become a part of our successful and supportive Irish dance family.
We value the dedication and commitment of our teachers, who go above and beyond to individualize the teaching program for each student. At the Doyle Academy, there is a wonderful culture where older students inspire and mentor younger dancers, creating a supportive and encouraging environment.
To ensure proper technique, we require dancers to come prepared with appropriate attire. Little jiggers and school-aged classes should wear shorts (above the knee) and a t-shirt, while adult dancers should wear comfortable active/gym wear. We recommend socks and sneakers for the first term, and hair should be tied up and off the face and neck.
All dancers should bring a labeled drink bottle, and during hotter terms, we recommend bringing a sweat towel. As junior dancers progress, they should bring their folder with their beginner steps printed out and placed inside.
In our little jiggers and school-age classes, a uniform is compulsory from the second enrolled term. New dancers receive a t-shirt with their registration, which they should wear to each class. Shorts and other uniform items can be purchased through the office. The uniform is not mandatory for adult dancers, unless they are or have moved into the competition-based classes.
All our classes follow the syllabus of the TIDA of NZ and the An Coimisun Le Rinci Gaelacha. Dancers have the opportunity to participate in local dance to the music events in their first year and a class competition at the end of the year. We also offer grade exams and a biannual show, which will be held in December this year.
Our little jigger classes are open for family members to watch, but we kindly request that siblings who may wish to play or run around utilize our foyers. For the first term, parents of beginners have the option to stay and watch the classes. However, after this term, our classes are closed to spectators to maintain a focused learning environment.
Join us at the Doyle Academy of Irish Dance and experience the joy and beauty of Irish dance.

"The teachers at Doyle Academy of Irish Dance are willing to work with pupils of all ability levels; and even hold classes during the day for people with disabilities to learn at their level. Students with disabilities also have the option of mainstream classes."
