About Sim's Kitchen
Welcome to Sim's Kitchen, a renowned establishment located at 59 Victoria Street in Auckland, New Zealand. We are excited to embark on a new chapter and strive to achieve our goals and aspirations with your support.
Sim's Kitchen is not just a restaurant; it is a point of interest for food enthusiasts looking for an authentic and delightful dining experience. Our founder, Doris, hails from Penang, a Malaysian state famous for its street food and vibrant hawker centers. With six years of experience as a vendor selling the local favorite dish, 'char kway teow,' Doris has mastered the art of creating mouthwatering flavors that leave a lasting impression.
Growing up, Doris learned the secrets of perfecting 'char kway teow' from her older brother, who spent over two decades operating a traditional street stall with a charcoal fire. Now settled in New Zealand with her family, Doris takes pride in sharing the cuisine of her hometown, hoping to provide better life opportunities and education for her children.
Sim's Kitchen owes its success to the ever-growing number of supportive patrons who have embraced our delectable offerings. Doris is grateful for this support and looks forward to expanding her horizons by empowering her son, Jonathan, to develop new concepts. With his extensive experience in the culinary industry, including working as a bartender at a Japanese restaurant and as a bar manager for a Michelin-star restaurant in Ginza, Tokyo, Jonathan brings fresh ideas and a team of talented individuals to create new opportunities for Sim's Kitchen.
At Sim's Kitchen, we are driven by our passion for food and our dedication to delivering delicious dishes to all our customers. Our team is committed to ensuring that every bite is a memorable experience, and we strive to exceed your expectations with our culinary expertise.
Join us at Sim's Kitchen for a gastronomic journey through the flavors of Penang, fused with a touch of innovation. Whether you are a local or a traveler seeking an unforgettable dining experience, we invite you to savor the authentic taste of Malaysia right here in Auckland.

Reviews of Sim's Kitchen
"Order Mie Curry Laksa Chicken for me and spicy fried rice for my husband and chicken nibbles. Curry Laksa tastes delicious, just like in malaysia. The fried rice also said the husband said taste lacking good but the portion a little bit small for $18 price. He said he had come before and the portion was a bit bigger than today. Overall, we recommend here for anyone who wants to try simple malaysian cuisine yet yummy. It's also got halal stamp on the restaurant so good for halal food hunter."
"I stopped by the Onehunga store after heading to Dressmart. There were a few parking spots right outside the store and I was able to grab one as it wasn't busy. The dining area is fairly large. I ordered at the counter and grabbed a table. The milo was really hot when it arrived so I didn't really get to have much until it cooled down. The char kuey teow was nice and tasty. I also grabbed six of the chicken nibbles and they were quite juicy and tasty. It was a nice place to stop for some tasty Malaysian dishes."
"If you are looking for good Malaysian resto, Sim's Kitchen will not disappoint your taste buds. They have nasi lemak and hainanese chicken rice. Staff are great and courteous. It's a busy little resto so please be patient as you will eventually be rewarded with good food."
"We had the prawn noodles and char kuay teow. Portion was not big, each dish around $20 each. We actually came here because we saw the menu online and wanted to their oyster omelette, assam laksa and a few other authentic Malaysian dish. But when we got there, all the choices we wanted was not there. So little disappointed, they should update their menu online. However the char kuey teow did taste good, nice wok hay. The prawn noodles was quite spicy but average tasting. Might come back if they have all the choices from the menu."
