Takanini School

Welcome to Takanini School, a renowned establishment located at Takanini School Road, 39 in New Zealand. With a rich history dating back to March 10, 1923, our school has been a point of interest for generations of students. In a recent commemoration ceremony, our current students had the opportunity to reflect on our school's century-long journey. The Principal shared insights into our school's past, while Reverend Grainger blessed the occasion. The celebration culminated with the cutting of a cake by our oldest and youngest students, symbolizing the unity and continuity of our school community.

One of our latest additions is the Bike Track, which was scheduled to be officially opened on August 27th. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the opening was postponed. However, our enthusiastic students couldn't wait any longer to enjoy the track. They have already had two wheels days, with regular usage by our students. Our Year 5 - 8 students are even working towards obtaining their bike licenses. Our Bike Track caters to all ages and abilities, boasting a range of bikes from balance bikes to BMXs and mountain bikes. Additionally, the track serves as an excellent pathway for walking and running when the field is too wet. Encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle is one of our top priorities at Takanini School.

In February of this year, we proudly unveiled our newly refurbished Junior Play Based Learning environment. This innovative project, designed by Boffa Miskell and generously supported by the Hugh Green Foundation, includes an outdoor learning space specifically tailored for our play-based junior school classes. This environment provides our young learners with a stimulating and interactive space to enhance their educational journey.

At Takanini School, we believe in holistic education, and that includes teaching our children about the process of food from garden to table. Through our Garden to Table program, all Year 3 - 6 students have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities related to growing and harvesting vegetables in our school garden. They also learn to cook delicious meals using the produce they have cultivated. This program not only instills valuable life skills but also promotes sustainability and healthy eating habits among our students.
